The backwards compatibility.

I get you've never seen it happen with your own eyes but this doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I've never seen a murder with my own eyes but it doesn't mean they don't happen. Going back to the image part, Microsoft has not shyed away from using X1's backwards compatibility as a selling point and rightfully so. PS4 can't play PS3 games last I checked but the XBox 1 can play a growing list of 360 games. This is opportunity for Microsoft: someone who owns 360 games and has not purchased an X1 would see another reason to invest in an X1. The convenience of being able to play 360 games on their X1 much like people who bought a PS2 could play PS1 games on it. Someone with PS3 games might hold back on buying a PS4 since the PS4 don't do PS3 games.
How do you know this is the biggest contributor? I'm sure word of mouth and social circles are contributors but the biggest? Speaking of word of mouth, there's positive word of mouth in this very thread with the way Microsoft has been handling their console. |
yes sure... just like PS3 sales dropped after removing the Backward compatibility to PS2 and the X1 took almost one year to see its sale increase due to backward compatibility, yes it makes sense.

It's outsold it in the US/UK/AU because of BC, New resign, 4K, and a push of quality AAA first party ips.

Except it's not outselling the PS4. LMAO, PS4 still has a 3 year flawless victory worldwide.
The difference in one week of sales in Japan alone is enough to offset its marginal US and UK victories combined.

XB1 BC isnt something new. Its been going on since 2024. You reslly need to stop talking abiut this thing like its some be all end all feature. Its been around since 2014, that's all still not stopped the PS4 from outselling the XB1 on average almost 2:1 globally all that time. And whats funny is that a feature like that is more important at the start of a new gen when there are slim pickings of new 8th gen titles to play. Not now when the 8th gen library has been fleshed out.
And i swear you sound like an MS PR head. BC is not nearly as important as you try and make it out to be. No matter how much you and MS talk it up. Just look at the sales, hasn't sales over the past 3yrs been proof enough what gamers want and what they feel is important to them?
And giving credit is very very different from word of mouth. In this very thread I've aknowledged that MS has done well to try and turn their ship around or at the very least make the most of what they have. But when my friend comes into my house and sees me playing FF15, I'm not going tell him to go and get an XB1 even though the game is also on it. And when he gets his PS4, he will tell his own friends to get a PS4. That's how word of mouth works.
Has the X1 ever actually won a week globally? Like I'm guessing the Week which Halo 5 launched, but I think at the same time Fallout 4 and something else were launching around then, but yeah just wondering has it won a week over the PS4 yet?
Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive
The Xbox One is only winning in the US weekly sales. With the help of European and Japanese markets the PS4 wins worldwide weekly sales.

I believe the only week they won was launch week because besides all the preorders and normal big opening PS4 had stock issues.

X1S will outsell PS4 total if it was the original X1, but it is too late...

First it was the debacle that was No Man's Sky which Sony put its marketing behind. Then it was Sony's restrictive modding policy with regards to Bethesda's Fallout 4 and Skyrim games. Microsoft has been less restrictive in that regard. Then the PS4Pro not being able to play 4K Blurays which the XB1S can, Microsoft made sure to emphasize. Also, the PS4Pro being weaker specs-wise than the upcoming Scorpio, Microsoft doing a better job of implementing backwards compatibility, and even Microsoft claiming their gaming network is the better one (not sure how true that is). Also, if memory serves (no pun intended), external storage on the PS4 and PS4 Pro is a hassle compared to the X1. |
Not mention of course that the ps4 slim is exactly the same machine as the bigger original with no added features whatsover like hdr, 4k, 4k blu ray. The One s offers all of this value add at no extra price. Sony tripped up big time wth the ps4 slim, i mean it is not even cheper than the one s. Of course savy western consumers are goin to pick on this type of thing. Its all about perception, - one s providing a 4k hdr experience for 100 buckes cheaper then the ps 4 pro. I do not think the ps4 pro will outsell the one slim (u.s & u.k)moving forward. The price diff is too great.
