Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nvidia: Porting PS4, Xbox One, and PC games to Nintendo Switch is simple

well sure porting is easy, as in making it run on Switch. That doesn't mean it will run good though.

Certainly good for digital only titles.

They didn't mention the likely biggest issue for porting, RAM. Nice.

Even if it is a similar architecture, it still has to overcome the gap in power. I doubt it will be as simple as lowering the resolution and turning down a couple effects. There is a real power gap between Switch and the twins. There will be games that will not be possible. This means that Switch will be missing 3rd party games.

This. Just because it has a similar architecture it doesnt mean that the power difference is small. See Microsofts tries with one Windows for all devices. Its obvious that you cannot have the same game on your phone as the one that is on an Xone. But its still a good sign.

XB1 has less power than PS4 and still they running same games usualy at lower res, same could be done with Switch compared to XB1.

"Could" is the point. You "could" also point many games to last gen systems. Everything is possible but the question is how much work is involved.

hmmm completely different processor architecture and a large performance difference. I am sure they could port anything or everything, but easily?? I smell a lot of BS in that statement.

We'll see how that turns out.

Of Course, but fact is that modern Switch hardware and tech makes things easier compared to Wii or Wii U for instance.

Yes, it's now 10% less difficult to port than for Wii U. That will solve all 3rd party problems for sure.

Definitely is more than 10% less difficult than porting for Wii U, ARM+Nvidia is very modern architecture and tech that is very familiar and easy to work with compared to Wii U hardware.

No one said that will solve 3rd party problems, but definitely that is positive thing regardless 3rd party.

I really don't understand tone..

It's certainly very familiar and easy for people who develop mobile games for a living.
