With NiN not exactly expecting to have a boatload of units available early on, the last thing they want to do is have Zelda as a launch title. Especially if they launch lower than $299 like some rumors suggest.
Way to much demand and no product that early, and during that time frame is not good. Xmas you could maybe get away with it, but not in March.
As long as NiN has a few good launch titles, and more than likely Wii U ports, much like the PS4 launch ports, they will be fine. Whatever third party support they have, should fill the gaps until summer/fall.
A Zelda launch announcement at E3 2017, during late summer or early fall, is exactly what NiN needs. Stock pile units all summer long after the initial rush, then sell sell sell until Xmas.
