Forums - Gaming Discussion - So, Xbox One has outsold Ps4 in 3 Countries in October!

Around the Network

XBO is on a very nice run right now. I still fully believe that both the PS4 Platform and the Xbox One Platform will outsell, all PS and XB products before them. With Universal Windows, Xbox Play Anywhere, and so much more coming to strengthen Xbox, I see no way the platform dosen't reach the 100M mark this generation.

Microsoft and Sony have made two solid platforms that will take over the home computing market for the masses, and that is going to lead to a massive influx in software, and a giant leap insoftware quality. The future of home computers is as exciting as it has ever been.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Mexico. The majority of South America is Xbox Land as well. But those aren't officially tracked by NPD or GfK or whatever. So maybe add about 12 to 15 more countries.

That's cool, but I'm getting the feeling western markets don't have as much relevancy as they did in previous gens. i.e. I dont think the US is going to account for as many console sales as it did previous gens.

Well I think many already have noticed the console audience is likely shrinking due to many casuals being content with mobile phone gaming. Family games and licensed film games are often mobile only these days. Sony's Vita was the first casualty in my opinion, while 3DS is doing significantly less than its predecessor.

Japan is the country we look at where mobile phone gaming has had the most impact on the console gaming business. While the west is where its still most relevant.

Its unlikely this gen will achieve sales at par with last gen because the market chagned.

That's actually really bad considering a ton of people will be holding out for the Pro in November.  it's going to be a slaughter WW next NPD if they could only win 3 countries this month.

I agree that this is a very exciting time for gaming, and the home computing market broadly.

As for total sales for this generation, it really all comes down to how long the generation lasts.  If we're going to get small upgrades every few years, that may be difficult to define.  I agree with your underlying point though - the overall market is bigger than ever.

The Wii's success throws a curveball into comparisons between this generation and the last.  Likewise, how will we account for Switch?  What generation?  Is it a console, or a handheld?

I'm pretty sure those countries like the US and UK is where consoles/software sell the most.

Wow, thanks for the info since I keep hearing that Xbox sells well in South America.

Don't know why some here say ps4 is selling better WW.
Excuse me if I am wrong but wouldn't WW = the whole world?
That would mean ps4 would have to be selling better everywhere. Clearly not the case.

Yeah, weird right? I also heard people say that Trump won the whole election even though there were several states where he didn't win. People are weird sometimes.
