My thoughts exactly.

Is he aiming this article a Nintendo in a vain attempt to convince them? I don't understand the point of this article.

The point of this kind of articles is quite obvious. "Don´t bother with Switch/Nintendo systems their software will be on PS/Xbox".

If Nintendo is making portable-centric systems from now on, I don't really even see much of a conflict of interest in putting *some* games (not all, but *some*, same way they do on iOS/Android) on dedicated home-only higher end consoles like the Playstation and XBox which clearly are a separate/different segment of the market.

If Nintendo was still competing in that market like they were in the N64/GameCube days I would agree it would be a bad idea. Or even if they had some crazy, incredible controller revolution that could turn the industry on their head.

But it's basically no to both of those.

So in that case, I see no reason for Nintendo not to make extra money on the side, getting a few more PS/XB fans hooked on their franchises and buying a Switch as a secondary/portable platform.

nonsense

I kind of don't care  about people saying Nintendo should go third party.

But I'm mature enough to know that it doesn't matter if Nintendo still makes hardware or not. Console wars are for kids, if tomorrow Halo is on PS4, meh, don't give a shit...

If Uncharted is on Xbox One, don't care either, Mario on PC? Why not? It's their business decision, I just care about playing games.

for the most part I agree with you. Nintendo games on PC would be great, especially if the Switch and Pro controller have bluetooth capabilities. I mean, Mario is coming to smartphones so PC isn't a big stretch. Either way the console wars are pretty irrelevant. But it would feel weird, for me, for Nintendo to go full third party...

I agree that it would be weird and feel awkward for  a time, but well, so was Nintendo making mobile games. A few years ago people were saying that it would never happen!

And I was like : "well, if nothing ever changed at Nintendo they would never have even made video games, they would still be making cards, Nintendo is following trends, and should follow trends"

I still stand by those words.

Well yeah, it's not uncommon, cod and GTA do it all the time. And other third parties like fallout and elder scrolls outsell 90% of first parties.

Nintendo isn't doomed, but as a home console player I think they are probably largely finished, which is sad.

They will still make a lot of money off mobile games and Switch will probably sell to enough 3DS owners (though will still be a decline from the 3DS) to make Nintendo a good amount of money.

But Switch isn't a system anyone is using as their primary console other than the same people who bought the Wii U (the most hardcore of Nintendo's fanbase). As a home console that thing is not going be competitive with a PS4 or XBox One/Scorpio.

Switch is no Wii, there's no new idea here to drive software sales. Nintendo needs a new IP like what Pokemon did for the Game Boy to come out of nowhere and drive hardware sales, but that is very rare in this business.

Yeah, sure, they'll have NO PROBLEM competing against all the shooters and racing sims. /sarcasm.

since even from their worst selling console they made a profit s

There is no proof that gamecube made a profit. Only that Ninty was profitable during that period if you combine handheld and home console sales.

Also, I doubt they were profitable with wiiu. They may have, but there is no proof (to my knowledge).

Eventually Nintendo even made profit with the hardware alone let alone overall so...
