Forums - Nintendo - Investors Not Happy With the Switch, Want More Mobile

I don't really think Switch is going to be in that conversation. PS/XBox fans are not suddenly going to start talking about it

that depends on the games, if we see games like beyond good and evil, and more exclusives like bayonetta and xenoblade, gamers are going to talk about it. Even if they say "why is this on a nintendo console wahh wahhh"

You'll see some of that, but not much. Nintendo is notoriously cheap and they're only going to finance a few of those projects per gen. To be honest like Bayonetta I don't expect big sales for BG&E even if its true (that game sold the least on the GameCube last time around by the way).

The bigger issue is all the big websites are going to look at any NS multiplat and compare it to the PS4/XB1 and PS4 Pro/Scorpio, and that comparison is not going to be flattering as the NS version will likely almost always have the lowest resolution and poorest graphics. There's only so much a mobile chip is such a small space can do.

I know that Nintendo posted a operatin loss. But wasnt the net thing PROFIT?

Yes it was, however investors care about the direction of the firm. Honestly it seems Nintendo could do well with the Switch make bigger profits than they would have done mobile, but investors still be unhappy.

They had a lot of profit thanks to the Marines, the operating loss was about their videogames market.

Because going mobile solves all problems

Yes they made net profit!

The loss was 48$m ( a small one but i admit, loss isn't a happy occurence )   mainly because of stronger yen, disastrous result as they article points out... Yeah, sure! lol

The 50% QYOY up  of 3ds sales and the huge boost on Pokemon games sales by pokemon go for instance,  are a triviallity...

Or Mario kart 8 being at 8m sold on a 13m selling console!

Investors look at operating profit moreso than net profit. Net profit is used by companies all the time to skew things, this Nintendo financial report is a perfect example of that, Nintendo doesn't several other baseball teams sitting around to be sold. Operating profit shows the health of the actual company's business.

It's hard to predict man, BG&E is Ancel's baby and he's not going to do a cheap mediocre game. we don't even have the full specs and games. Like I said, it's about the games. Even if NS doesn't have the best third party versions, imagine an exclusive souls games developed by from software, maybe not a system seller but "hardcore" gamers are going to turn their heads. I expect a lot of good software this time because Switch is about games and not about a gimmick to change gameplay design.

I know all of these, why are you insisting on talking me about investors? I'm scathing the journalists not them!

Is 48m$ quartly loss  a disastrous thing for a multi-billionair company? Especially, when is on transition?

For example, should sony  have abandoned playstation and not make the very succesful,  both commercially and financially,  ps4 because ps3  in spite of being  commercial success, was a financial flop ( 5b loss ) ?

Why the hell would a company make an exclusive Souls game? PS4 + XB1 have a userbase of what? Like 60-70 million already, that will be clear of 80-85 million easy by the time NS even launches.

The only way Nintendo is getting exclusives is if they agree to pay full development cost or they are pre-existing portable exclusives like Monster Hunter and Yokai Watch IMO.

That BG&E game will be on PS4/XB too if Nintendo doesn't have an iron clad full exclusivity on it too (see: Zombi U, Rayman Legends). Third party exclusives are not really a thing anymore, even PS4 which is dominating the market does not get many exclusives. Games are too expensive to make these days to keep them away from huge portions of your audience base.

funded by Nintendo, just like bloodborne was funded by sony.

exactly.

third party exclusives are a thing when a company pays for the development, just like the rumor of beyond good and evil 2.

basically the same answer for all your points, the answer is money.
