Well, watching the footage again its actually as you said. There was a light dirextly behind the guy. Notice when he fell he was well lit? and when he got back up and you turned around?
I personally don't think there is anything amiss with the lighting. I think it's perfect for the atmosphere it's trying to convey.
but hey, as u also said you could always tweak ur display settings. :)
