Oh wow! Just watched the TGS trailer. So it's a total reboot that has nothing to do with the originals? It looks like this game has taken some inspiration from the movie "House Of 1000 Corpses".

Nah they said that it takes place some time after Resident Evil 6.  In the demo it even showed a picture of a helocopter with an Umbrella logo so it is still part of the main games, just nobody knows how or if any of the other main characters will appear in it in some form.

Well I get that, but realistic doesn't always mean good. There's a reason why most games and movies are much brighter during night/dark scenes than they should be.
I'm specifically talking about the combat part starting at 0:35. How can that guy even be scary if you only see a black silhoutte directly in front of you? He could look like a cute, somewhat bigger child and you wouldn't know until he's "dead".
Would definitely increase the gamma value once I get the game to see what the hell is going on.

Come on being dark is a legitimate atmospheric direction. Ever play silemt hill? There are even enemies in that game that you don't see at all and all u see are foot prints.

And in case you weren't aware, with games (inherent to their repetitive nature) the best way to instill fear isn't even by making enemies scary, it's by making it really easy to die or by requiring a lot of your limited resources to kill said enemies.

I have nothing against invisible enemies, because you can at least see through them. I have nothing against the use of shadows or the likes either. I don't like it when you have black brick wall right in your face. It's not scary. If it was people wouldn't run around with clowns masks right now but with completely black masks.
And it's just annoying that you can barely see your limbs or your gun, because it's just as dark as the person in front. That might just be the case because there's a light behind the enemy, but the point remains. The footage is a bit too dark. Can probably be fixed with changing the gamma settings though.

Well, watching the footage again its actually as you said. There was a light dirextly behind the guy. Notice when he fell he was well lit? and when he got back up and you turned around?

I personally don't think there is anything amiss with the lighting. I think it's perfect for the atmosphere it's trying to convey.

but hey, as u also said you could always tweak ur display settings. :)

Ah, ok. It just looks/feels really different from bacically ever previous entry. Seems more "western" for one thing.

Looks like it could be fun, nice to see it will have combat.

I'm honestly more excitced for RE7 than anything else at the moment. As of........4 hours ago? :)  Horizon: Zero Dawn has been bumped to #2.

Didn't look much like combat to me. You just pointed with a gun straight into the center of the picture.

I didn't like it.

Plus I hated how the blood splattered onto almost your whole lense and kept being there forever. It looked so cheap and clumsily done, it was hilariously bad really.

They should use blood on the screen as a visual cue for wounds like BF1 does it. BF1 does it in a superior way, in a subtle way that feels like real wounds.

Also that old zombie guy was extremely annoying. I would like to kill him really.
