Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XV is "very good"

Previews seem to be positive. Glad Tabata saved the day and actually delivered. I'd love if we get the game on PC sooner than expected.

The world always looked good. My problem has always been the combat and the performance.

And despite what people say, i just don't enjoy the combat very much. I can see myself falling asleep playing it. Also, i didn't see enough variety in it to stay interesting for 100 hours.

I'm not hating. I just played the demo and didn't like it. Because its a mainline FF, i will end up buying it. But not before a price drop. At that point i will see if my concerns verify.

The reviewer also mentioned his concerns with the combat and says after a few hours your opinion changes.

I suppose it may be because I'm not immersed in FF, but looking at FFXV I could still plainly see it was Final Fantasy from the very start.  Creature designs look like FF type stuff, the characters' hair is straight out of a FF game.  The gigantic swords.  And even the approach to scale and aesthetics in cities as well as depictions of technology look FF enough to me.  And let's not forget FF is a game series that has changed aesthetics many times.

Edit: also LOL at you acting like angsty main characters are somehow non-Final Fantasy.  Give me a break, a FF game without an angsty main character is almost unworthy of the name at this point, I've seen that much from what I have watched of the series.  And the cast doesn't even seem that angsty in FFXV from recent videos I've seen, they seem fairly chill, like normal guys.  As opposed to moody cardboard boxes with weird pink hair that spout bumper-sticker level pseudo-philosophical "deep" lines.

Which is also very Final Fantasy. All I'm saying is that FFXV is as far removed from the FF core as we've ever seen. Bothe in design and gameplay. And if that wasn't enough it also looks really really boring, which is not at all helped by the all male cast. Which is another thing that has never happened, no matter what a certain other forum member says.

Didn't the original Final Fantasy III have an all male cast?

Yeah I was right:

"Besides Final Fantasy III for the Famicom, is this the only numbered FFentry with a male-only party?" asked one commenter on Barukanlog. Other comments seemed let down by all the men.

If you believe the conspiracy theorists then yes. The white mage is female, no matter how bulky that pile of pixels looks.

Well how is this different from an all female cast like 10-2? plus I edited my message

Better yet, whp gives a flying crap?  If the characters are strong and capture the vision of the creator, who cares about gender and race ratios?  The way people obsess over and demand diversity to the point of nearly fethishizing it really irks me.  The all male cast is FINE if the characters are GOOD.  And same with an all female or a mix.  And no, none of the three are "potentially better" cause you can just as easily have a bunch of similar cookie cutter flat characters with a mixed gender/race cast as you can with an all white male cast.

Personally It doesn't bother me at all, as long as like you said "he all male cast is FINE if the characters are GOOD" from what I've seen from the anime the characters are to my liking.

I don't demand diversity. I demand nothing less than every character being female. It's just the right thing to do.

In most FF games I was able to build an all female party.

I actually didn't hold back (as I usually do...) and read the whole thing.
Quite vague, but at least it shows some promise. Still not convinced.

That's weird man.
