Forums - Nintendo - No matter what 3rd party support NX has - people will make the worst of it

Some people lately are jumping to conclusions about NX 3rd party support roughly 3 hours after the Red Dead Redemption 2 got announced with no NX version confirmed.

And the truth is, I would think many of those same people would be just as negative if it actually were announced for the NX then or even at some future event (e.g NX reveal, E3 2017 etc). Same goes for every other AAA game that will or won't make it to the NX.

Even if RDR2 or any other AAA 3rd party game were announced for the NX, it would be met with the same kind of criticism so many Wii/WiiU 3rd party games have had for years.

"It probably won't sell well"

"It won't look/run as good as it will on PS4Pro/Scorpio"

"Bet it gets cancelled lulz"

"Who really wants this game on a Nintendo console? It doesn't belong there"

I encourage you to ignore such people. Because even if NX or any Nintendo platform were ever to have comparable or superior versions of games, the focus will always be on what a Nintendo platform does *not* have.

I swear - if the NX matched and exceeded the X1 and PS4 in every way - but lacked an obscure Japanese game PS4 had, some timed exclusive Xbox DLC had, or didn't have some ball-scratching feature on PS4 and X1 both share - people would make a big deal about it. Nintendo could nab FF15, CoD, Fifa, RDR2 running at 1080p 60 FPS - but if it lacked a new Battlefront game somebody would not shut up about how the NX is in a precarious position to repeat all the failures of every Nintendo console ever. Blah blah doom. They should just go 3rd party blah blah. Its fate has been sealed  doom blah blah. Michael Pachter said blah doom blah doom doom blah.

So all told- Ignore the doom. Allow yourself to be cautiously optimistic about NX - even when it doesn't have all that PS/XBox has. Have faith Nintendo has something special with the NX worth getting excited about. Stay happy Nintendo fans :)

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Haven't Nintendo fans been doing all of this all the time anyway...ignoring all that and playing what they want? As well the fans of any console....just playing what they want O_o?

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

... or not? I mean this IS a good topic for discussion. Im pretty certain most people would love the console if you could play Dark Souls, Witcher and Mario Kart in it.

It's called Nintendo games. Which has gotten me excited for many years.

The more games a machine has, the merrier. But it's not like the end of the world if it doesn't have all of them. It's not like we have a shortage of videogames. The shared library should free Nintendo of most of its software droughts, and the japanese devs will love a modern handheld to port things to, specially if it's easy to program for.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Yep... all people that said the Wii or Wii U version of a multiplat game sold worse than on the rivals is lying. Thanks for the heads up.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I don't really believe NX is designed to directly compete with PS4/XB1 anyway. It *can* function as a console in a pinch, but it's main purpose is to be moved around and outside of the house. This is a different kind of product. So it doesn't really matter if it has the same developer support or not.

With any luck the NX will have the combined library power of the 3DS and Wii U. That alone will be enough exclusives to put the other platforms to shame. Third party support or not. There are roughly four high quality games coming out for the 3DS per year. The Wii U got about three high quality games a year. If Nintendo consolidates its efforts to a single console then they should be capable of putting out 7-8 high quality games a year. That's 21 must own games in three years. Currently my PS4 collection is sitting at 18 must own games.

I don't have a problem with that. It's not a lie. But such past failure shouldn't preclude a new platform from having success.

I think if Nintendo can manage to get Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Madden NFL, FIFA, NHL (pretty please?), Star Wars, Ubi Soft stuff, and Call of Duty that would be pretty good on top of the standard 3DS type stuff that would be pretty good, but even that is probably asking for a bit too much, lol.

Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Revolver, stuff like that probably isn't happening. I think getting EA on board (even if they aren't enthusiastic) is important because they have exclusive rights to things like the FIFA and NFL and Star Wars licenses. If Nintendo doesn't get them they are effectively locked out of those IP and there are plenty of kids/family audience types that love those games so not having those would hurt Nintendo.
