Thought the women's rumble was really good. A few nice surprises, and a lot of really good moments. Great way to debut Jade Cargill. Some spots didn't quite work the way they should.

The men's rumble... kind of meh. It got good at the final four. But I honestly can barely remember any of it before then. Not really any surprises, returns, legends... etc. Smart to have the end with the four people who actually had a chance. It was a good choice to have Punk and Cody have a lengthy back and forth at the end, although Punk was looking pretty gassed. It was a long match and he hasn't wrestled much recently.

Cody winning should means he faces Roman at Mania. There's no logical way to have him choose anyone else. Maybe they jam the rock in for a three way, but I'm thinking more likely not.

If The Rock is going to be involved in any way, it should be in Cody's corner to even the odds against Solo and the Bloodline so that it's a straight one-on-one between Cody and Roman. And they can use the loss as the fuel for Roman to go over after The Rock because he'll blame him for getting involved in his business and ending his historic run. This does not need to be a three way. Cody has his own beef and story just like Rock has his own beef and story with him. They got no business with each other and Rock/Roman doesn't need the title. They can do that match some other time. Stick to the plan they were building towards since last year and have Cody and Roman one-on-one with Cody finally finishing his story.

So Cody won the rumble again.

Twice in a row - first person since Stone Cold in 1997/1998 and fourth overall.

Damn lol

I enjoyed the whole event. So much so that I watched the press conference that followed. This was the first PPV I’d seen in a while, I’m happy to see they brought the post-show montages back. That was always fun during the Attitude era.

Cody indicating that he disliked the whole “finish my story” thing now that it’s become cliché. Triple H got a little nervous when like three of the interviewers brought up Vince. Although he was vague, I still thought “everything possible” was a great answer.

I thought CM Punk’s desperate looks toward the Wrestlemania sign, when things weren’t going quite his way, was the best psychology in the whole event. And while Punk did look winded at times, he was quick, reactive, threw out a number of flashy moves, and had the best ring presence of everyone in the match. I predicted the elimination order of the final four… well, kinda; I gave them the chances of something like Cody Rhodes 50%, Punk 35%, WALTER 14%, and Drew with about 1%, and that was reflected in the outcome.

Speaking of presence, holy shit Jade Cargil came off great in that one. Hoisting Nia Jax up with such ease (Yes, I realize Nia did a lot of the work, like pulling herself over the ropes, but let me “mark out” for a moment! …I feel old saying “mark out”) was really a great moment. The Becky Lynch elimination of Jade using Naomi as a weapon was a really good spot as well.

As was said in the press conference, Bayley w pointed out that the roster was really strong, made evident by the fact that no legends were brought in to fill spots. But they did bring in the TNA women’s champion! And that was quite shocking. I guess TNA relaunched is going to have an ECW-type relationship with WWE where once in a while you’ll see some trades back and forth.

Few other notes:

The Ricochet screaming, is that a new thing with him? Like how Brian Christopher did the chuckles in 98/99?

The Men’s Royal Rumble match had the Omos and Mcafee sideshow, which reminded me a bit of the Drew Carey thing. Omos made Bronson Reed and Ivar look like hobbits!

Speaking of Bronsons, Bron Steiner looked a lot like his uncle in the ring. That level of athleticism.

I was rooting for Liv Morgan to win, she’s one of my favourites, I’ve been a big fan since the Riot Squad. But I didn’t know Bayley hadn’t actually ever been in a singles Wrestlemania championship match, that’s fairly nuts when you think about it considering she was one of the four horsewomen and has rarely been weak.

Now speaking of the Riot Squad, Sarah Logan’s gimmick is entertaining, but she comes off way weaker than her presentation.

I’d say the Usos carried a lot of the men’s match.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I dont think it'll be like the ECW relationship - probably just a cameo appearance every few years.

The last time they did this was with Mickie James in the 2022 Royal Rumble.

Honestly would have loved to see the TNA World champion show up but likely wont happen , at least anytime soon.

Yeah I can see it. Maybe the Rock as the referee, and the tribal elders have sent him so Solo and Jimmy won't be able to mess with him. Definitely agree they should do a one on one match but given WWE's history I'm just a wee bit skeptical.

Oh damn, that would be great.

Having The Rock as a Referee - he doesnt have to be as physical which would jeopardize any agreements for any of his other projects and still build up a potential showdown for 2025 wrestlemania with Roman Reigns.

I’ll stamp that as “I’m interested” too. I think The Rock as a guest referee would be fantastic - I’m thinking involvement like a reverse Austin-McMahon WM17 situation (with the McMahon role cast as a referee) where The Rock would do a heel turn type thing - and the crowd wouldn’t turn on The Rock either, it would be like Flair or Taker where no matter how horrible their heelish action, the crowd won’t stay angry for more than 15 seconds . But, given some additional thought, I’m wondering if Triple H will ever have another match (given his health situation) and if there’s be any interest in resurrecting one of the biggest rivalries in the history of WWE? Because of the new power dynamics in the company, there might be an interesting story there. It would also be great if they did some factional stuff again, like The Corporation/McMahon-Helmsley regime in the Attitude era.

Eh... HHH is one of my favorites and it would be cool to have him in one last match, but dude has a pacemaker and implant defribrilator. There's not a whole lot of research done for obvious reasons, but it's generally recommended not to do vigorous sports, and especially contact sports. Especially with him being 55 to begin with... I don't see that happening.

He wont be able to do it because of his health condition.

Best thing we can do to expect something similar is if the next generation of McMahons come in to play the on-screen authority figures which...I doubt will happen because it doesnt seem like any of them interested in the business, not that it matters now since TKO owns WWE.

Not gonna happen.

Triple H is done. As in, done-done.

He will never get physical in any sort of capacity ever again.
