Hm, to follow the Playstation logic Nintendo would first have to follow it through the normal way, and then all of a sudden half way through, like during a console redesign, reverse everything.

Nintendo is partnering sony. NX will be the next vita, but also with nintendo games. It also streams PS4 games.

Considering that the Vita has been natively hacked now you can have a Vita which streams PS4 games and also has Nintendo consoles up to the GBA and SNES, there is N64 and a semi functional NDS emulation working on it too, but they're more early proof of concept stuff rather than for actually gaming.
