not a comparison, babe, it's a "why I love this and why I love that" thread.

Okay, honey, then exclusives is the only reason why I love both worlds, or in other words: At the moment Civilization VI and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are my two most anticipated games.

Around the Network

Consoles: Exclusives

Pc: Everything else (including PC exclusives)

Consoles: funny TV commercials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukgISn3P2nQ
Buy used or new physical copies, and sell/trade or share games.
Collector Editions.

PC:
MMO heaven.

PC: Mods, free online, emulation. Cheap digital prices.

Consoles: CE's and pre-order deals?.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Hmm for me, Consoles are great for that quick turn on convenience and pick-up-and-play style with a controller, while with PC, you can do all sorts of things, like play with mods and download various types of games. Plus some games just work better with a keyboard and mouse, but either way, I like playing with them both.

I wouldnt use exclusives as a reason for consoles and not a reason for PC. PC actaully have more games exclusive than consoles. And there exclusives are just as good.

And just to add PCs are also gaining PSNow and XB1 games so there really isn't a comparison when it comes to a superior game library.

Consoles:
- Easy to setup / move around.
- One controller to play all games. (some specific exceptions)

PC:
- Can play console through remote play when tv is in use
- Easy to cheat (copy/edit save games)

PC:

Refresh rate 144Hz to gain more smoothness frame rate

Why stop at only 144hz? There are 160hz, 165hz, 185hz 200hz and 240hz panels available now.
Some monitors will happily let you overclock them too.

Going 120hz is amazing, then you get used to the smoothness and think nothing of it... Then you use a 60hz panel and you feel like you are dealing with a Nintendo 64 game. It's surreal.

Don't agree with a couple on the PC side.

Emulation - it's a bit of a dodgy area legally speaking so not something I'd list as a pro...
Controllers - would be nice if you could use any controller, but in my experience a lot of games just freak out if you try and use a DS4 and only really work with Xbox controllers.

And a couple more on the console side,
Used games! - similar to physical games, but it's possible to have one without the other so it still deserves mentioning as a pro, especially considering how cheap they can be.
Good achievement systems - Yeah, PC has achievement systems but they're not good...

Emulation is perfectly legal for the majority of the planet.
The legality issues arise with how people acquire the games to be emulated.

Can't say I share your controller issue though.

consoles and pc, I'll tell you the pros without the cons... just a positive point of view.

PC

Infinite compatibility, you can play every game from every generation without the "bc issue"

Free online, it's free, it's good.

Emulators, if you own the game, go and download an emulator and now you can play your favorite ps2, gamecube, wii, dreamcast, gameboy, ds, neogeo etc etc games with better performance and visuals. Let's not forget that many emulators don't work properly all the way, even as far back as N64 (Case in point, Ogre Battle 64)

Steam

controllers, you can use every controller ever created and mouse and keyboards Until the PS dongle comes out, DS4 is hampered by Windows, and DS3 lacks drivers altogether. This makes it difficult (not impossible) to play with these controllers.

Interface variety, nothing better than mouse and keyboard, but also big picture mode if you want the console experience

customization, duh it's a pc.

excluding some atrocious ports, you are going to play the ultimate edition of every game, depending on your hardware of course.

MODS, also open platform means more developers and more games including shitty and great games.

cheap and even free games on a regular basis,  today ubisoft gave me The Crew for free, it's not like I wanna play it but hey, it's free.

consoles

third party and first party exclusives, this is the main reason

forget the drivers and the requirements, just play the game

The hype before an announcement (can't wait for the NX)

craziness and gimmicks, some people hate this, I love them

physical games

that's it for me, wanna add something else

For PCs:

Piracy is much more attainable wait ignore that

Much better multitasking

User patches (could be filed under mods, but more specifically fixing problems developers won't. Case in point: the fix for Dark Souls)

For Consoles:

Comfortable couch play

Seamless experience

Superior performance for the dollar

A thriving trade-in market

I know i know, i'm no newbie xD I used to have CRT monitor with 240Hz back then for playing Quake 3 Arena.

Aaaaaaaaaaand you better be careful with those stuff that you mentioned, they are too hard to decide, because one of monitor tricked people within advertised as true motion blur 240hz then turned out a 120Hz and that was known as Ezio. Yep that's the brand tricked them. And the other one 1440p with 144hz <--frame drop. That's why i picked a 24 inch monitor with 1080p 144hz for cheap price, i'll give you quick answer what kind of game i play with this monitor. It's Doom 2016 online, Toxxik & upcoming Quake Champions..that's all.

I'm keeping my eyes open on this monitor http://www.144hzmonitors.com/monitors/asus-rog-swift-pg258q-24-5-inch-full-hd-g-sync-240hz-gaming-monitor/

I know it's FHD, no excuse or but!
