Why stop at only 144hz? There are 160hz, 165hz, 185hz 200hz and 240hz panels available now.
Some monitors will happily let you overclock them too.

Going 120hz is amazing, then you get used to the smoothness and think nothing of it... Then you use a 60hz panel and you feel like you are dealing with a Nintendo 64 game. It's surreal.

Emulation - it's a bit of a dodgy area legally speaking so not something I'd list as a pro...
Controllers - would be nice if you could use any controller, but in my experience a lot of games just freak out if you try and use a DS4 and only really work with Xbox controllers.

And a couple more on the console side,
Used games! - similar to physical games, but it's possible to have one without the other so it still deserves mentioning as a pro, especially considering how cheap they can be.
Good achievement systems - Yeah, PC has achievement systems but they're not good...

Emulation is perfectly legal for the majority of the planet.
The legality issues arise with how people acquire the games to be emulated.

Can't say I share your controller issue though.
