Forums - Gaming - pros of pc gaming and pros of console gaming.

consoles and pc, I'll tell you the pros without the cons... just a positive point of view.

PC

Infinite compatibility, you can play every game from every generation without the "bc issue"

Free online, it's free, it's good.

Emulators, if you own the game, go and download an emulator and now you can play your favorite ps2, gamecube, wii, dreamcast, gameboy, ds, neogeo etc etc games with better performance and visuals.

Steam

controllers, you can use every controller ever created and mouse and keyboards

Interface variety, nothing better than mouse and keyboard, but also big picture mode if you want the console experience

customization, duh it's a pc.

excluding some atrocious ports, you are going to play the ultimate edition of every game, depending on your hardware of course.

MODS, also open platform means more developers and more games including shitty and great games.

cheap and even free games on a regular basis,  today ubisoft gave me The Crew for free, it's not like I wanna play it but hey, it's free.

consoles

third party and first party exclusives, this is the main reason

forget the drivers and the requirements, just play the game

The hype before an announcement (can't wait for the NX)

craziness and gimmicks, some people hate this, I love them

physical games

that's it for me, wanna add something else?

Around the Network

PC:

Refresh rate 144Hz to gain more smoothness frame rate

Consoles:

Easy plug and play

If this ends well, I'm surprised. Anyway, I'd like to add that the initial cost of getting into console gaming is cheaper.

Whoa now, don't go into details. Drivers and requirements are, for the most part, not much of an issue these days. Just say console gaming is still simpler and I won't argue about it. PC gaming isn't complicated either (for the most part), but consoles are even simpler (even though the direction is towards more complicated).

We sure are having a lot of discussion about this. More so than I thought we would be having anyway.

Agreed with the OP though

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

For consoles, I would add local multiplayer, although today's consoles aren't much better than PC in that regard. Also thanks to used games, it is considerably less expensive to game on than a PC. THERE, I said it.

For PC I would add convenience... sort of. I could be doing any number of things on my system, but should I spontaneously decide to start playing a videogame, I don't need to move an inch to do it. My entire library is always available. Also, cheaper digital games.

For me the biggest thing is plug and play. And tailor made experiences.

You take console out of box, and just plug it in and thats it. Updates and everything are downloaded for you. Games a purpose built to fit your exact hardware. Everything just works.

And the second biggest thing is the cost of entry. best way I will describe it, is that I like performance. But there is only so much I'm willing to pay for it.

So price and plug and play.

On another note, when threads like these start popping up at a higher frequency, it usually means that a console is threading in PC waters again. Last time this many threads about console vs PC was about was around 2013.

They're both great in their own ways. I'm both

I can't see this going well.

I would put physical games high on that list. Easily traded, and sold. Allows you to buy used games, and then sell your games back for quite a bit.

Also means (aside from some games having huge patches) I don't have to worry about my internet speed at any given time.

I know this is the Internet and I know the Internet pretty damn well, but we are not animals so a civilized thread, just one civilized thread is not much to ask.

physical games are not there because you have to install the game just like on pc, so for me, it's not a pro anymore.

This thread is about the pros of console gaming and pc gaming,  not a "VS" thread. #ThreadRuined

thank you buddy.

You missed almost everyone of my points. Buying games, selling games, refunding games. Easily lending games/borrowing games.

Also installing a game takes seconds(depending on size) - downloading takes hours.

I have two PC disks. Fallout 4, and skyrim.  Skyrim I installed quickly. Uninstalled it (to install it to a difference directory). Then reinstalled it. Fallout 4 is just a disk with steam on it. It took a couple hours to download it. If I were to uninstall it it would again take that long to download it.

That is a huge difference.

true, you're correct, it's a big pro for console gaming. added
