You gotta see this to believe, i know IGN is a bunch of ignorants but still this is hilarious, this guy is such a clown it´s so funny.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3mDgR_0_YA Around 27.21.

Xbox One S does not even compete with the PS4 Slim in resolution and graphics and this guy is saying it competes with the Pro, man IGN really needs to hire some true gamers and tech guys, being run by idiots like this just keeps killing their reputation as a reliable website.

For  IGN, and for some people, Having a 4K Blu-ray Player is enough to compete against anything.

I haven't watched the video so take my comment with a grain of salt.

If they can run comparable versions of the same game with negligible differences (like the PS4 vs Xbox One--and yes, I own the original version of both), they yes. I think they compete. One console will always be more powerful than another. They will never be 100% equal (ie: PS2 and Xbox) but they can still offer similar experiences (unlike say PS2 and N64).

Scorpio may be at a slightly higher level once released when compared to the ps4 pro though :P ( But definitaley not a different league :P)

They will, at the maximum, need to lower the resolution 1 level between Scorpio and PRO. For Example, Scorpio = 1440p; PS4 Pro = 1080p.

A "different league" is trying to run PS4 games on the PS2.

I know all the details known about the Scorpio so far. Until it's out, the only thing we can go with is the difference in theoretical peak performance based on it's revealed TFLOPS output. And that puts it in no different a ballpark from the PS4 Pro than the XBox One S is in relation to the regular PS4. a 40% difference is a 40% difference. The Scorpio will manage to hit a native 4k resolution in more games than the PS4 Pro (which will rarely hit it for AAA games). But that's the same with the PS4 vs XBox One, where the latter barely ever uses a 1080p frame buffer and relies more on upscaling or simply opt for a lower resolution like 900p, compared to the PS4 games that more often deliver native 1080p.

If the XBox One S and PS4 are in the same ballpark despite the power difference between both, then the same has to be said about the PS4 Pro and the Scorpio, since the power difference in both cases is the same.

There is a bigger difference between 1080p and 4k then 1080p and 900p first off. Second off 40% difference is different in this situation in terms of GPU. Imagine an ant that is 1 mm long and there is another ant that is 1.4 mm long. You can't tell the difference unless you get a magnifying glass and even then it isn't a big deal. Now if the ant is 1 yard long and the other is 1.4 yards long then you can tell the difference for sure. This is obviously a bit of an exageration, but shows as numbers get bigger than the difference between the two is not only bigger but more noticeable.

Seriously, whatever you say. I know full were where you're coming from, so I'll just let you believe whatever you want.

The PS4 Neo and Scorpio isn't a matter of 1080p vs 4K to begin with.

So I'll stop arguing with you, since I know full well where you stand.

yeah, but the difference will NOT be 1080p vs 4K. Simplifying 40% more power means 18% more pixels for each X and Y dimension. Indeed 900p*1.18 = 1062p, close to 1080p. Lets' say a game on PS4 Pro will have a 1440p frame bufffer with 6TFLOPS it could be just a 1700p frame buffer. Then sure, the Scorpio should improve other pieces of HW, but currently we know nothing about it. Still, the PS4 Pro has 3 times the power of any Xbone, so no, they are not and can not be compared.

Then, since we are talking about pixels, we are talking about something much smaller than an ant, so your arguments goes against what you pretended to say. Indeed higher the resolutions get and much harder it becomes to notice a difference. Just think SD vs 720p and compare it with 720p vs 1080p. The jump from SD seems much higher. Or even better get a 2x2 grid and compare it with a 3x3 grid. Night and day.

In some aspects yes, it does compete with it. Still, people compare Wii U to gen 7 consoles because of gpu and cpu power so if the Scorpio outmatches the Pro, which it will, it'll be considered a gen 9 console while Pro is still gen 8. It's silly, it only partially makes sense.

XBoneS is a minor upgraded XBone system

PS4 slim is not a upgraded PS4 system but just smaller size

PS4Pro is a little more upgraded PS4 system

XB Scorpio is a XBone successor since it will have exclusives VR games that won't run on XBone/XBoneS

so it still make sense that XBoneS suppose to compete with PS4Pro rather than PS4 slim

and XB Scorpio suppose to compete with PS5 rather than PS4Pro

The "little upgraded ps4" has the same difference of Teraflops than the Xbox One and PS4 had. A console from a previous geeration should not be able to run games of a next generation. Both Scorpio and PS4 Pro are upgrades of their original model, not another generation. Not even Microsoft want to make generations anymore.

The thing is that the Xbox Scorpio is a bigger jump than the PS4 Pro.

We don't all we know is that PS4 Pro can't handle real 4K gaming.

It depends on how demanding the game is but we know that some games run at native 4K resolution:

It seem like the PS4 Pro is to 4K what Xbox One is to 1080P. It's not really a bad thing game that run at 900P on Xbox One are still amazing and fun.

PS4 Pro won't really offer that true 4k gaming on consoles. PS4 is killing Xbox one in sales why not wait an extra year for PS4 Pro?

The insecurity of people on this site is hilarious.

While I do agree that that is often the case, the thing is that IGN (as far as I know) is still the worlds biggest gaming website (based on views and revenue it generates). I doubt that it would be a huge thing to ask to actually create content with people who actually have a fairly decent idea about where the industry stands and what are your average technical specs when it comes to gaming hardware. This is not a whole lot to ask, considering that your daily forum dweller will recite them in his/her sleep.

Subjectivity and taste  is a totally different thing altogether (and every news caster might have his), but in the context the guy is speaking is ignorant at best and seriously missinforming at worst. If they consider themselves a serious and professional game news outlet, they should act as one. Just my 2 cents.

About as well said as possible. It's also genuinely surprising that so many people here just don't get it. A total shit of an "opinion".
