Forums - Nintendo - If there was a remake Hotel Mario, would Nintendo DMCA-it, or would they ignore them?

Nintendo has been throwing more DMCA lately, and I've been thinking of what can people do to avoid them. So I thought: "Hey, Nintendo doesn't even recognise the existance of te CD-i games!" What if someone made a remake of Hotel Mario, or one of the CD-i Zeldas, what would happpen? On one hand, they are using their IPs, but on th other hand, they havent recognised or referenced those games to exist since they were released. Would Nintendo chose to ignore it like everything from the CD-i, or would they DMCA them and finally recognise them as part of Nintendo's history?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Consumers themselves would DMCA it and anything to do with the platform it came from.

Who in the their right mind would ever remake that game?

Well, it has Nintendo characters, so they probably would. Philips had to get Nintendo's permission to use their characters, so that's why they were able to make that and the 3 Zelda games.

It's Nintendo, they DMCA everything.

In order to legally maintain trademarks, they have to be defended.
If a trademark is not defended, then the company loses legal rights to the trademark.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

DMCA, the answer is always DMCA

If mainstream media decide to report on it, you can be sure that it will be shutdown very quickly.

Otherwise, I think they will ignore it, just like every fan games that didn't got into the media spotlight.

They'd probably DMCA it immediately.

I wouldn't blame them though, that game needs to be a distant memory.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Kill it!!! kill it with fireflower!!!
