Don't see how this would work. It's just a pass through port. It's not being processed by the XB1 S. His TV is just converting the image, just like if you had the PS4 directly plugged into the TV.

What do you mean, rarely used? Why would HDMI-in be rarely used? I'd be surprised if this was a rarely used feature, especially on the Xbox One S that has an integrated IR blaster. |
What % of Xbox One (slim and original) users would you think use the HDMI-in? I would say it is less than 10% personally.
Ew, a Vizio? I hope he's prepared to buy a new TV next year.

Looks crazy good. Even the Youtube feed is very good quality upscaled.
I don't understand how it can have HDR though, does the PS4 already support that today? I doubt it because it's posted beforer the PS4 Pro event.
Thats the nice thing of the Xbox one S, its a great upscaler, I read some reviews and its superior to most 4k television, altough some of the high-end models have better upscaling if you don't have the feature its definitely not a bad choice, it will eat away some extra power tough, it looks nice!

My 4K TV has a really good 4 step scaler and my XBox One S is still much better. I explored this with the XBO S and the OG PS4.
That guy on YouTube '4K Gaming Vault' has uploaded a ton of games on a non HDR M series Vizio where he shows you the console in 1080p and 4K modes.
You can see the improvements from the upscale. Most notably, the size of the image how its framed into the display.
With the Console outputting 1080p and letting the TV upscale, the image doesn't scale 100% properly. When you turn on the 4K output on the console, the image fits proportionally as a 4K native Image should. It also seems to clean up the image and give you a better aliased look in most games. For instance, even on Forza 5, for me it cleaned up lots of the jaggies.
Those are good videos to show the improvements both XBO S and Ps4 Pro(moreso) can provide with a 4K HDTV, the video quality and recording is not pristine and you can still note the changes.
Really glad i sold the VCR and replaced it with an XBO S. Pro is next.

How does an Xbone S replace a VCR? Did your VCR upscale or something? I know you can record shows with an Xbone, but that's only through over the air.
Uncharted 4 doesn't support HDR yet. So you won't see a difference there. I'm also not sure the Xbox One S uses it's upscaler on the HDMI passthrough. Would be cool if it does, but not really practical for playing games since from what I've seen the input lag is really high.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

The Xbone outputs one whole desktop screen, since it runs multiple OSes with its hypervisor. It outputs one resolution signal to the TV. The signal remains constant the whole time that you are playing games, watching TV, snapping in and out. In this case, the signal is upscaled to 4K for the whole desktop.
