Everything is relative when you are giving your opinion.  The use of the word probably should suggest that I am not stating this as a fact.  I believe a lot of people do enjoy a device that meets multiple needs instead of one.  The device that meets enough of my needs at the best quality usually gets my money.

As to your edit, I think I pretty much made it clear that I am not purchasing a PS4 Pro and that I am happy to wait to see what the Scropio offer.  As I mentioned this was a miss for Sony for my situation.  Sony is the leader so they can make decisions where they do not have to match their competition.  I have no problems with that as I understand Sony is a business and thus I treat them as such.  Also I am not concerned about Sony or any other corporation.  As I stated, I am only concerned if a product meets my needs.

Then stop trying to justify yourself to others.

What you call justify, I call just giving my opinion just like you have.  You have a point of view which I read and I have a point of view.  I need not justify my opinion, I am only stating it as it's different from yours.  I am not trying to convince you that my opinion is better than yours, Instead I state my opinion from my perspective and situation as a difference of opinion.  Not sure why you take it any other way but maybe you should search your own feelings.

Yes, you are.

4K blu-Ray player is a niche within a niche .

IF

=> you have 4K TV => You have 4K blu Ray player => Have a 4K blu Ray movie => This Niche applies to you.

4K TVs aren't even mainstream yet.

Apparently somebody forget to tell Sony that because they're marketing a console towards 4KTV users. Half their press event yesterday was an infomercial for selling 4KTVs.

If you don't have a 4KTV or don't plan on buying one then all this PS4 Pro discussion should be moot to you anyway.

So they are marketing towards a niche at the moment. In 2-3 years i'm sure 4K TV's will be mainstream , at which point sony will be prepping to launch the PS5. Then it makes total sense to go all in.

What percentage of prospective buyers will fall in to the decision making of "Does it play 4K blu rays"? How many people buy 1080P blu rays these days? Let alone 4K blu rays?

That is the logic behind Sony's decision. Whether you agree with their logic or not is entirely up to you. It won't matter in the grand scheme of things. X360 went through gen 7 with a Dvd player and it didn't really affect the overall outcome too much either.

This whole discussion has been blown WAY out of proportion.

It sucks for those who have collected many 4k Blu Ray disks. It definitely doesnt sound like the best choice for a 4k TV. For gaming its great. I had no plans on buying a Xbox Slim but now im considering buying one due to the player.

No it doesn't.  Just buy a 4k player.  Or those who have already have a collection more than likely already have a 4k player.  Don't make up false issues in an attempt to bolster your false argument.

What if i wanted to buy physical 4k disks? Or Rent them from a shop? What if I don’t have the internet, you know when everyone jumped on the Xbox 1 because MS wanted always online? What if i want to watch 4k movies in a Submarine? For the record, Streaming is never better than actual physical media. It’s not an argument, it’s a fact. Many gamers and none gamers would still like to buy there media on disks. Weren’t you there at the start of the generation when everyone was against digital media and wanted actual hard copies...

None gamers would consider an XB1s for their 4k TVs because well it can play 4k movie disks and there are many who don’t want to stream and download there movies. Yes they would buy a XB1s for the fact it’s a cheap 4k player with a game console as a bonus accessory just like the PS3 was for Blu Ray. Consider that some people have more than one TV and already have a 4k player in 1 room filled with many 4k Blu Ray disks and they wanted a games console for there other TV in another room, and they also want to watch there 4k Blu Ray movies in there aswell? Well the PS4 Pro isnt going to help them there so they have to not only buy a PS4 Pro for games but also buy a seprate 4k Player, sounds alittle expensive dont you think, or they could just buy a XB1s that can play current gen games and also play there 4k movies. Unless you think everyone lives by the rule, 1 House, 1 TV. There are many sceneios you havent thought about.

I dont see a false argument here, maybe next time you should read alittle more into my posts.

As for your last sentence, that’s being a little immature. I am stating my opinion.

"Just buy a 4K player" = "Just buy an XBox One S.

For the price it's the best player on the market. The quality apparently is really good, it's better than some of the $700 players.

But I'm guessing some people are loathe to reccomend someone buy an XBox, but that's pretty much the scenario Sony is kinda forcing a bunch of people into.

It doesn't even make sense to me to buy just Samsung or generic 4K BR player, because XBox One is the best one on the market for under $500.

It is not so popular yet. I think they wait a fee years, wait till the relevant tvs are sold well and put in the ps5 in 2022. Actually a brillant move to get your money on the long run.

Unless they were collecting a plethora of 4K Blu-Ray disks in anticipation of the PS4 Pro having 4K Blu-Ray, nothing sucks for them because in all probability they already had a 4K Blu-Ray player for their collection.  That's why your statement was false.  The assessment was that simple, logical, and mature.  Fact.

1. they dont "own" blu ray.

2. then why are they releasing dedicated players if there is no market for them?

1.- They are the ones who put it on the market, so they have the numbers...

2.- Maybe in those numbers, they already know that the kind of people who would buy the PS4 Pro is the kind of people who already own a 4k player... Time will tell, if they made a mistake or not. So far, numbers  talk, and ps4 numbers are talking loud.

"We all make choices, but in the end, our choices make us" - Andrew Ryan, Bioshock.

No, I used to buy tons (100s, if not >1000) of DVDs and Blu-Rays, but now I use HBOGO, Netflix, Hulu, OnDemand, Apple TV, etc. I think I bought 2 or 3 Blu-Rays this year, and most people I know are watching Stranger Things, GoT, Narcos, or some other streaming content. The new Apple TV is aiming to consolidate the distribution further, and there's a reason that the 4K movie section is so small at brick and mortar stores.

It's fast-becoming a niche market.

What if they have two 4k TVs and one 4k player and wanted another 4k player for there other room? You think everyone only has one TV in there house hold? Yes i have a 4k player at my house with a 4k TV which over the course of time i have been collecting many 4k movies on disk. I plan on buying another 4k TV at Xmas which i will need another 4k player to watch my movies in my other room. Pro isnt going to solve that problem for me however a XB Slim will. With your logic i only need one 4k player to statify both TVs.. Makes no sense.
