Forums - Website Topics - Why are here so many PS3 haters?

I personally think it is a generational thing. Years ago we just wanted to play/experience new games...it didn't matter what console...Atari, Colecovision, Intellivision, Commodore, Nintendo, Sega....we didn't care. We just wanted to play as much as we could no matter who made it.

I don't remember 'Fanboyism' coming into play until the PS2/N64/Dreamcast era I guess. And now it is ridiculously out of control but unfortunately I think it is here to stay.

It sounds corny and ridiculous but teach your kids to enjoy games based on how fun they are and not soley by whose logo is on the box.

No time to read all of the posts but here's my theory. If people bash the Wii, Wii owners always have the "well just look at the sales charts arguement", so they don't let it get to them. If you bash an Xbox owner, they have the "well my software library is bigger than yours arguement".

When people bash PS3, their only defence is subjective arguement about why their system is better than the others, but no really solid defence that can be corroborated by data. So it bugs them that people can't see things from their point of view.

It may also be that there is a little more venom in the PS3 bashing due to the Nintendo and Xbox fans being on the receiving end for the last two generations....

I think you are spot on about everything except the bolded part. There is no quantitative reason why the PS3 is better than the other two consoles, but there are quantitative reasons why the other two consoles are better gaming solutions than the PS3.

As for the bolded part, I think you have got it the wrong way around. I think a large number of PS3 owners bought their console in the belief that Sony would dominate as they have the past two generations. They either were unaware that this wasn't happening, or convinced it would happen shortly. Such gamers become immensly frustrated when confronted with the Wii's continued dominance and only a minor PS3 week-to-week sales advantage over the 360.

Quite aside from the PS3's higher price point, many PS3 owners feel a far greater need to justify their purchase to others, due to the fact that said purchase was made with the anticipation of continued Sony gaming dominance that simply hasn't eventuated. Owners of the 360 and the Wii on the other hand, generally paid less for their console, and bought it knowing full well that dominance was unlikely due to the console's respective predecessors being trounced by the PS2.

We should all feel at least some level of sympathy for Sony fanboys due to these points, as it must be incredibly frustrating for them.

Perhaps, or perhaps i was being diplomatic.  People are very quicky to call troll on this site;)

Arrogant Company+Delusional Posters=Huge Backlash

People trash Wii and the XBox 360 also. Can't we all just get along?

Fanboyism increased during the nineties because of the debate over what was better N64 PS or Saturn.  For I while we were going to go saturn but when we saw the FF7 comercials we decided to get a playstation.  After the GT fiasco I gave up on Sony and gaming.  Microsoft saved gaming from destruciton with Halo and the Xbox.  SOny killed it with their EA sports.  Go play real sports losers.

people hate what they don't understand :)

Hate is better than indifference.

People hate because people care about the system, and how it is doing better than it was. If people were indifferent, they wouldn't even speak about it, because no one cares. *cough* XBOX 360 *cough*

You could name 100 different reason and all would be true. Major reasons being the price that many can't afford (less of a issue now) and bitter nintendo fanboys and xbots about Sony ruling the industry for a decade.

As far as this site it has its bias like all other sites, this place just happens to be heavily pro wii thus anything anti Sony is very tolerated while anything anti wii is not.

'Nuff said.

EDIT: I don't hate the PS3, but Sony PR is just too arrogant and stupid. They already screwed themselves in the ass with the Blu-Ray trojan, Cell hard to program for developers, price, hyping their games would be all that but they aren't and so forth. I just want to see Sony give it up because I think the PS3 was a mistake at launch; they should've delayed it another year while Blu-Ray came down in price, and so did the manufacturing for the console. Trust me, it would have sold Wii numbers if it did.
