Forums - Nintendo - Emily Rogers: NX Below XB1/PS4 In Power; Battery Life Is Not Great

We don't really know if there might be bigger carts available at higher costs. The info we have is 32GB at the cost of a regular BD. There might be room for bigger ones without the price exploding.

Also a lot of modern games have barely compressed files on the disk. You could probaby shrink GTA down a good bit with proper compression.

A lot of ifs and maybes. I thought the same Eurogamer leak everyone is revolving around already had the info of it being a 32 Gb cart. And needing upwards on 60Gb is going to be a bit more expensive...

That's a hard sell for me.

Wasn't the eurogamer leak saying that the NX would have 32GB of internal storage and support SD cards?

Because I'm talking about info that came out of Macronix (Manufacturer of the DS and 3DS ROM carts) a while ago. They stated that they had been starting manufacturing on a 32nm ROM process for Nintendo and that they would be able to deliver 32GB ROM carts at the price of a regular BD.

Everything else is admittedly ifs and maybes, but I recon that you can probably get 64GB carts without the price exploding, if you can get 32GB ones as cheap as a BD.

I mean, seeing as it's supposed to be a portable + home console, I think this is probably very accurate. Modern cellphones maybe put out a quarter of the power that PS4 and Xbone can do, and they can cost upwards of $700. We all know that Nintendo usually prefers to take the more cost effective route. I'm honestly expecting it to be about equal to Wii-U, which, if it is a dedicated portable, is still pretty damn impressive.

I just wish Nintendo would stop making us suffer through insider info and rumors, and just reveal the damn thing.
I really want to see it.

But Nintendo likes to make everyone suffer, they are among the best at that.

"NX will use game cartridges as its choice of physical media, multiple sources have also told us.

Considering NX's basis as a handheld first and foremost, the choice may not come as too much of a surprise - although we have heard the suggestion Nintendo recommends a 32GB cartridge, which is small when considering the size of many modern games"

Nope, they were talking about the game carts.

With that being the case, get ready for a gen of "that looks great, for a nx game. It can be impressive as he'll for a handheld, but when looking at what it can honestly offer for a home console, then What? It's supposed to replace both

They could do it using the tech they have available. I'm pretty sure they could go the whole SCD dock route. Two Tegra X2s in unison IMO would get you pretty close to XB1/PS4 graphics on the TV.

But I just have a bad feeling Nintendo will gimp this thing.

Its simply not worth Nintendo going to such lengths to get bad ports of PS4/X1 games. I can't wait to get the NX but I'm not playing a gimped version of FFXV and Mass Effect Andromeda on it. 90% of those who want to plays those games would much rather do so on the X1/PS4 for technical reason, alongside the fact they most likely already own those systems or a PC.

Aounuma said that the only difference between the NX and Wii U version of Zelda will be the graphics, that should be hope at least that Nintendo aren't going to overly gimp whatever Tegra card they're using. `

Where did he say there would be a difference in graphics exactly?

Aounuma sorry, not Miyamoto.

How exactly can you determine battery life but not know exact number of hours or time?

.....

This doesn't look too hot. Hopefully they can fit a Pascal Tegra X2 onto it for better performance and battery life on the go.

Two Tegra X2's are a stretch, as more GPU's require more power.

I think it the assumption this battery cannot handle the power of this device. Vita and 3DS battery were shit as well.
