I wasn't talking about the market side of things, I was talking about my own enjoyment.

And Prime 3 is the third best selling game in the series.

It's all relative I guess. I hope NX is better than the Wii-Wii U era in general.

I'm kinda tired of the same paradigm ... IMO EAD Tokyo is the only Nintendo studio really at the top of their game right now.

Naturally, I always hope for Nintendo's next generation to be their best, even if I doubt any gen will ever beat the 4th for me. XD

I know I'm a broken record when I say this, but I hope on NX studios like Tokyo EAD and Retro really stretch their creative muscles and go all out instead of making the more conservative projects they delivered this gen.

Hurt, especially on the 3rd party front. It's always been ironic to me that wii had a decent amount of 3rd party support even though its main controller was two components with like 8 buttons when combined. Meanwhile wii u comes with a more traditional (screen aside) controller and "here's games from a year ago for full price"

I wouldn't count on massively ambitious projects, it's not Nintendo's style. 3D World though isn't a lack of ambition, it wanted to tap into the casual audience and had to be built around that concept.

4th gen ... you mean the GameCube?

SNES and N64 IMO are the peak for Nintendo's 1st/2nd party console output.

Super Metroid/Super Mario World/Zelda: LttP/Super Mario Kart/Star Fox/Earthbound/DKC2/Yoshi's Island for the SNES or Mario 64/Zelda: OoT/GoldenEye/Zelda: MM/Perfect Dark/Banjo-Kazooie/Mario Kart 64/Star Fox 64/Conker/Blast Corps .... GameCube, Wii, and Wii U can all sit the fuck down, 90s Nintendo is the best Nintendo.

4th gen = SNES. Gamecube is 6th gen.

I'm not asking for the likes of GTA V, but more stuff on the level of Galaxy, the Prime trilogy, or Breath of the Wild would be nice. I didn't buy a current gen console to play games that, HD polish aside, could've been done on the N64.

PS4 has quite many AAA exclusives and is still getting many more. Wii U has few AAA exclusives and is getting just one more that is also coming to NX. Also PS4 and XB1 get many high quality third party games.

PS3 also didn't sell well in its early years and still has an amazing library of games.

The interesting thing is that even if we believe ps4 has many more AAA exclusives than Wii U (not sure if it is real or not) not many of those are rated above 3D World, an unambitious Mario game...

Ratings are subjective but maybe 3D World is an amazing game in its genre, but then so are Uncharted 4, Infamous: Second Son and Bloodborne in their genre. I'm not saying Wii U doesn't have good exclusives, but there are very few games for an underpowered and expensive console. Even the games are expensive. Wii U doesn't have the value for money that PS4 and XB1 have.

That is 110% subjective though.

Gaming is about having fun. Not about hardware specs.

That is true for most people. I know some people enjoy Wii U more.

You can't have a lot of fun if you don't have many options to choose from. Also if you have to pay more for the ones you do have :P

Wii U is probably the Nintendo console with the most droughts (at least between the ones I've owned). So in that regard you have a point.

Let's hope NX changes that with better 3rd party support and a shared library between handheld and home consoles.

Miyamoto once said they want to make another 3D Mario game like Galaxy, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

I'm okay. It could have been worse.

No proper Metroid or Zelda, and no Mario game in league with 64/Sunshine/Galaxy is saddening.

But there's games. They're just not as surprising as I have come to expect from Nintendo.
