They did all that was realistically possible to do with a system that just would not take off sales-wise. I love many Wii U games, but I can't feel betrayed that Nintendo wants to distance itself from an obvious sales disappointment. Besides, the Wii U games being ported to 3DS are very blatantly inferior to the Wii U versions, If both versions released simultaneously, I would have still opted for the superior Wii U version.

Releasing an unambitious library was all that they can do?

I didn't really find the Wii U library unambitious. Sparse, sure. Many of the series entries that were released on Wii U are either my new favorite in the series or among my favorites in the series (Mario Kart 8, Smash Wii U, 3D World, Tropical Freeze to name a few). Guess its a matter of perspective.

I think the same.

I'll pick up a couple more games for my Wii U. I actually enjoy it and wish Nintendo would have learned and done better instead of giving up. However, because I'm still content with my Wii U, I will not be purchasing a NX. Certainly not any time soon after it launches.

Being your favorite does not make it ambitious. Starting with 3D World or DK.

That's two different things. X is a very ambitious game, but that does not mean everyone will like it.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Thats not fair to say at all. Compared to Sony and MS, Nintendo has released way more games for the WiiU than they have on PS4 and XB1. They also have the 3DS to think about.

PS4 has quite many AAA exclusives and is still getting many more. Wii U has few AAA exclusives and is getting just one more that is also coming to NX. Also PS4 and XB1 get many high quality third party games.

PS3 also didn't sell well in its early years and still has an amazing library of games.

Nice argument you got there.

So is it wrong to expect AAA games on an expensive platform when games cost $60 mostly and above $40 in general? I would never buy a console for indie or mid tier games, and I would never buy these games at $40, maybe $20.

When no one else is making AAA games, Nintendo should have done it but yet they don't and both their mid tier games and remasters of single games cost too much.

And your original comment stated that Sony and MS haven'tr made as many games as Nintendo this gen, but that is because they don't have as many low budget titles and both PS4 and XB1 are getting many more in the future, all the while having tons of third party games of a variety of genres.

Realistically there's only so much support you can expect for a system that sells this poorly.

The Saturn and Dreamcast and Jaguar and 3DO didn't get more than 4 years of support (in real continuos way). Wii U wasn't going to either.

It's nothing personal. It's simply business, it's like being mad a theater company for pulling a movie out of the theater after 2 weeks because it's bombing and wanting to use that screen for something else.

Besides to be honest there were still a lot of Nintendo games released for the Wii U, and a lot of very good ones. It's not like they Virtual Boy-ed it.

Systems that have trouble getting to even 15 million units sold will be phased out after 3 or 4 years. That's just how it goes in this industry, Nintendo is not a charity, they're a business. The whole "5 years or bust" thing only applies to system's that are actually successful in the first place.

The problem is that Nintendo didn't give even the bare minimum of support to the Wii U.

I would say that's pretty false, Wii U got most of the central Nintendo IP ...

2D Mario, 3D Mario, Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda, along with Donkey Kong Country, Pikmin, Yoshi, Xenoblade, Star Fox, Paper Mario, Kirby, Mario & Sonic, Mario Party, and new additions like Splatoon, Mario Maker, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad, Nintendo Land, Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, LEGO City.

I'd say that's more than the "bare minimum", that's basically most of their IP catalog. It could've used a Metroid and F-Zero to round things out, but every Nintendo console including the Wii missed some Nintendo IP (no new Pikmin, Yoshi, or Star Fox on Wii).

People certainly have many reasons to feel dissapointed with Wii U, but I think saying they only gave it a "bare minimum" of support is pushing it.
