Forums - Nintendo - Would you buy a Nintendo NX if these are the launch titles?

???

YES, day one. 99 56.25%

No, I need more. 77 43.75%

Total:176

It entirely depends on what else the console has to offer.... the third party titles are worthless to me if they don't have something over the ps4 version... I don't really have a problem playing Zelda on WiiU or PC, I've not played Luigi's Mansion 1 or 2 yet so I don't care about waiting a bit for 3 if it's good.

I don't think I'll get an NX before Mario Kart.

There's nothing there i'd play so no, not nearly enough

I wouldn't. If Nintendo launches the NX with Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin as the console's Nintendo exclusives it'd be really worrying. With those games and Smash it looks like a Gamecube 3.

There's really only Luigi's Mansion to entice me then. It would probably be good and I will want to play it, but I can also probably wait for when there's also a 3D Mario and Mario Kart. I will buy Zelda on NX, but since I do have a WiiU I don't need it day one and it can again, wait. Launches are all about exclusives, so non of those multiplats matter to me in any way.

Hmm, I'm not too sure. I would like to play titles like Luigi's Mansion 3 and Beyond Good and Evil 2, but I think I would wait until at least until Fall to buy one.

It was good, but it was sorely lacking in ambition and not what I wanted from a studio with as much potential as Retro.

I am curious as to why you think Retro has so much potential?

This seems like a common myth among Internet Nintendo fans. Retro was being built up to be an independent studio, with Metroid Prime 3 being the project they had the most independence on. But the game didn't turn out to be anything special aside from the IR aiming. They then went back to being more dependent with DKCR, and even more outside help with DKCTF. They are not a very productive studio, and few people seem to work there very long, as their staff seems to change up heavily from game to game since Metroid Prime 2.

In my opinion every one of their games has been superbly crafted, that's why. Recently however, they've been relegated to the kind of games EAD could just have easily made, which is a bit of a waste. As Nintendo's only major Western studio they should be bringing something fresh to the first party catalogue, not being just another EAD studio producing homogenous candy-coated platformers.

No. Maybe if they launched with Zelda, Mario, Super Smash Bros. Metroid and F-Zero I would.

I don't care about launch lineup. If Nintendo somehow manages to have some variety at launch and push a new 1st/2nd party game every 2 months, I'm sold and impressed. But they probably will have weird launch windows again for all their IPs and new ideas which already end up being 20+ games (= could be 3-4 years of proper support but why would they do that).

^ this so much this.

If I can play zelda on the wii u, I can wait.

Not sure Luigis Mansion is enough to get me to buy a NX on day 1.

Plus I already convinced myself it was best to wait and see.

I wouldn't buy it because I already have Smash (and new content would likely come to Wii U too), I don't like Pikmin, I'll get Zelda on Wii U, I haven't played the first Beyond Good and Evil and I can get the multiplats on PS4. So, it all comes to Luigi's Mansion, which is a nice little sub-franchise, but nothing for I would ever buy a console.

Only entirely new entries of Nintendo's major IPs or an interesting new IP would make me buy the console, at launch or at the point they release any of those.
