Forums - Gaming - A game like "The Last of Us" should be on the NX.

How about no. Unless Nintendo really has the urge to make something like the last of us they shouldn't pump something out just for the sake of diversifying the line up. We don't need a "me too" version of the last of us and that kind of thinking is how we end up with mediocre wannabe series like killzone and PlayStation all-stars

Killzone isn't anything like Halo or another game. Besides the second installment was one of the best PS3 games and the third was also a good game. On PSABR and thw kartgames (modnation and LBP karting) I agree.

The success of The Last of Us didn't come out of nowhere, first and foremost was it built on the reputation of naughty dog who had produced quality games consistently over several generations of consoles.

The Last of Us could have been the same game from a different studio, it may have been praised, but still not gathered as much attention and sales.

Nintendo Studios have great reputations as well, but not for that sort of games, so it may not work out even if it was as good as The Last of Us.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I think the NX needs games like MGSV, Bloodborne or Dark Souls. Games with a mature setting and with great game-play that arent so damn niche. Nintendo gamers are simply not interested in /too stubborn to appreciate Western style games imo.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

In the event the NX is a tablet I don't see the significance. That mature audience will only ever look at the NX as a secondary console and so I don't think replicating what PS4/Xbox have is very important.

Having said that I still think a portable Gtav could still be huge, the game is still selling... Also Elderscrolls. Skyrim remaster is around the corner but also if they manage a timed exclusive on a Morrowin/oblivion remake. These games are unique In that you can spend 100s of hours in the world and that's a compelling prospect for a handheld game. Minecraft is obviously a day one.

Agree, saying that we dont know on what Retro is working..

Of course they can, they simply choose not to.

Nintendo needs Rare. I can't believe they let Rare slip away considering the talent they had and the ability to make a variety of different games.

Nintendo could have had:

KI
Perfect Dark
Banjo
Jet Force Gemini

And new ip's that rare could have built over the decade+. Rare was one of those rare devs that could make anything in any genre and it would be awesome. They were what ND are now.

However, it seems Nintendo is relying less more and more on its core franchises together with Amiibo than creating new experiences. The WiiU was a joke in comparison to the N64 and Gamecube.

Games with a good cinematic story/experience definitely get a lot of love from me, Al tough I like games that rely on gameplay more, its really when the two come together that the real magic happens.

Nintendo isn't really good at engaging me in a story, I don't think I've ever cared, but they are the masters of fun-gameplay so they should definitely explore the other side, and try out some great stories. Zelda and Metroid lend themself to this, but its too risky, since fans won't like it.

They could make a good new IP, adventure based, and give it a good story, I would definitely be open for it, however, I don't think they should try to copy a series like Uncharted or The Last of Us and try their own style of game.

It would be interesting to see Retro work on a more mature game title, perhaps it could even sell somewhat well!
