Forums - Gaming - [Eurogamer] PS4 slim is real (new images, now with video!)

There still could be a PS4 on the ground and the slim one is 3D printed!I CALL IT FAKE!!!!

Seriously though looks neat.I mean, compared to the original its not that pretty, but it is a little smaller, and hopeffuly cheaper.(thinking around 300 official price with 250 for black friday)

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Yes but of course it's basically of no use for end users as there is no support for external drives.

Very strange that Sony of all the console producers would implement such a restrictive protocol. I mean Sony were essentially the first to make their console region free(barring the Neo Geo and Virtual Boy) and were against always-online where MS were all for it.

It's also beyond me. I mean, it's nice to be able to replace the disk to not have an external but what do I use the disk for then? For the TV? Well, then again it would be external. And for PC it is too slow or doesn't have enough space which means an additional disk would be completely useless for me.

I dont really care about the console on the outsides looks, It looks fine imo.
They just have to nail that 249$ price point.

Honestly the fact that it doesnt have ultra-hd blu-ray who cares? consoles are for gameing on.
It ll still be those 30-40% faster than the xbox one, in the area where it matters, games.
No HDR is maybe abit dissapointing, but seeing as I dont have a HDR tv... meh.

Damn the design is very strange, but let's wait and see.
If the price tag is at 249€ I am completely ok with it. 199€ would be insane though.

Yeh... i mean, they let you change the internal hard drive(i've done mine) where MS do not. But MS let you add an external hard drive, even Nintendo let you with the Wii U lol.

They only filmed a small bit... but they actually had a guy from eurogamer visit his house.

Hes "played around" on it and probably checked that all the wires are hooked up ect, made sure there isnt another ps4 doing it instead.

It looks like the scale at my local meat shop.

It was a guy from digital foundry actually, went to the dudes house to confirm it is real. So it's 100% confirmed.

Edit: Digital Foundry IS part of Eurogamer!?!?! I had no idea, what a tool I am.

- there are people that think uhd is a nice feature to have

- consoles are not for gaming alone anymore, not since the ps2 and its dvd player

- hdr is really expensive currently but the picture is definitely a *lot* better due to the increased bit depth

- nobody doubted the power the difference to go away with the redesigns

but I think the same applies to VR - you have to see it to believe it.

SS USB(3.0 USB). Did Ps4 have 3.0USB??

Yes but of course it's basically of no use for end users as there is no support for external drives.

You can backup your PS4-data since firmware 2.50 on a USB-HDD... so it is not useless, especially if you want to transfer the data to a different PS4 model (f.e. from launch-PS4 to PS4 Neo). And you don't want to backup or restore 0.5 - 2.0 TB with USB2.0
