The PS3 is already seeling on par with the PS2 from launch anyway, even considering the high price-tag

I would expect these sales to become higher and pass the PS2 (at the same time in its life) if the PS3 gets the $299 price-tag this year!

Also people cant say that not all the ps2 data is in since according to the quote below OTHER,JAPAN, and Nort america is in for the ps2.

yes but Ps2 now experiences a VERy big boost..in April

Ps3 will get that boost towards the end of april, it may lag behind for some months...but if a $299 price comes it will be on par with PS2

Does anyone else have this feeling like the PS3 will most likely cross 12 million before the 360 crosses 18?

Well with the software that is coming for the PS3 (being GTA4, MGS4, SOCOM, Resistance 2 etc) i can see the PS3 keeping up the momentum driven by GT5P (dropping down a bit of course, as to be expected) but i see it keeping the par with the PS2!

This in itself should be making Sony happy, as the PS2 is the best selling console ever and to have the successor selling at a similar rate this looks good for their shareholders!

Thats impossible, the PS3 is going to have to sell 500k world wide next week(which is impossible), and outsell both the wii and 360, and it will have to sell 400k the week after, the 360 just needs 260k to hit 18million.

Yeah, the PS3 will reach 12 million probably the 2nd or 3rd week in April :D

When will it reach 20 million then guys? I'm guessing the 1st-2nd week of December!

 That is quite unlikely, but there can be no doubt anymore that the 360----PS3 gap is getting smaller, and the pace in which it shrinks is quickening almost weekly (like probably 80% of our community predicted at any rate).

Oh dear, oh dear. Don't bring up that graph. If that is worldwide, it says the PS2 only sold 46M. The PS3 IS NOT selling on par with the PS2. 

Edit: Ok maybe I was wrong, the PS3 has sold the same as the PS2 at this point in its life. It must just be a difference in what time of the year the consoles released.

thats because it only goes on for 167 weeks, put in more weeks n see..
