Forums - Nintendo - Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

I forget, which side was the Roman Church on? Or were they neutral. I cannot remember.

I only ask, because if they were against it, they would know that the nazi party was awful and comparing it to Pokemon is just beyond redicolous.

The papacy remained neutral, and for this non interference Mussolini gave them Sovereign control of Vatican City, which they still have to this day.

What a ridiculous comparison.

because  the part of the population that is over 50 yo (which feels to be 80% of the population as a young person) are super-catholics so they don't give a damn about how silly what the bishops say seems.  It's not like we are one of the most homophobic countries in western EU for no reason :v

Really? I thought the sentiment that smartphones on the whole turned people into zombies was already well-established long before Pokémon Go. I suppose this bishop only noticed just now because people were going to churches not for the sake of the church, but to catch Pokémon.

AMEN!

Pocky Lover Boy!

HA!
I see what you did there!

Initially they had an uneasy relationship with Mussolini, and with the rise of Nazi Germany they walked a rather uncomfortable diplomatic tightrope given the situation. The actual bishops and priests across europe all varied rather greatly in how they dealt with it though, with some remaining silent (I've no doubt there were axis informants as well) while others were very successful in resisting in some manner or another, such as harboring and hiding Jewish people and informing on troop movements.

Just like all of europe that came into contact with or were occupied by the Nazis, on an official level they either appeased or capitulated at some point or another, but at the individual level the responses ranged from collaboration to resistance.

The popularity of this game is really big, isn't it?
