Forums - Gaming - MS change deceptive Xbox One Slim image

How much will the sales change because of it?

Honest mistake that they corrected thankfully, but I actually think the second image is a bit to big :).

Yeah, sure... a whole corporation missing this slight wrong show (and considering the time of E3 they already even had the right dimensions to model the S and certainly knew the X1) is certainly a "honest mistake". A mistake they took months to correct, basically only doing it when people will basically be able to look hands first and would be annoyed by the big difference between picture and reality.

A mistake that basically 100% of users in VGC caught in 3s after seeing the image...

And no, the second one is about right.

Probably because small form factor PC's are still bigger than XB1s (usually) and MS don't have a history of slick and thin console designs.

Oh, sure they are but mostly also louder but we are only discussing size.

But saying they don't have a history of slick and thin console designs is wrong, at least the s versions of their consoles are actually quite small.

You can easily have a small almost silent small form factor PC's. Anything from 'be quiet' and a nice PSU with Fanless mode is quiter than a PS4 and Xb1/s.

Compared to the originals yes. The PS4 is still thinner and shorter. But MS definitely doesn't make the slickest looking consoles. Wii U and PS4 have it beat there.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Good for them.

Still a good change, just pre ordered the gears 4 slim and elite controller. Can't wait.

And no, the second one is about right.

The thing is though... people who seen this image of the console being so tiny compared to the original X1 unit right, there is 2 sort of customers looking at that image,

1 - People who have and know the original Size of the X1, could see the image size reduction and be expecting that huge change going from 333mmx274mmx79mm down to what is shown in the E3 picture which is 200x164x47mm Approx, so when they would actually take the system out of the box after buying it to find a unit which is 310x240x61 they are just going to be sort of underwhelmed as they take their slightly larger X1 off the shelf and replace it, so end result = sale but dissappointed buyer in ways.

2 - People who have not seen in person the size of the original X1 and are buying this S model based on the massive size reduction and power increase it offers, but only base their comparison of the 2 models off the image shown at e3, so they would get out the 310x240x61mm Slim out of the box... look at it and think.... wait how much bigger was the original Design, so if you were to take the Slims actual measurments and increase each one by the 40% reduction which was applied to the image on screen at E3 you would end up with the original X1 being 434mmx336mmx86mm in size I mean that would have been a impressive console at close to half a meter in width, but even to have the mental image of how collossal the original X1 would have been if it was in fact 40% larger in each dimension than what the slim actually is.

The two systems side by side in reality

Including an X1 based on taking the Slim size and giving it that extra 40% from dimensions which had been shaved off.

I have nothing to add... and I can't see that as a honest mistake

Wow the difference is huge.

Holy crap, is this new Xbox One out now? Is this the 4K one? Much more refined and modernized design too. I like it!

If people think this console is the Scorpio I can only imagine the dissapointment after purchasing it.

This console does feature 4k Netflix, Youtube and Blu Ray playback, it is not the scorpio system shown at the end of Microsofts E3 presentation, that isn't out until Holidays 2017
