I've wanted a co-op MGS game ever since Peace Walker released, but not like this. This will definitely be Umbrella Corps with the Fox Engine.

I didn't think even Konami could come up with an idea this bad for Metal Gear. I did expect something bad, but this is even worse than what I expected. How did this ever get a green light at any single stage, let alone all of them?
Unless there's something really great, which I really doubt, this is going to be mediocre at best and a terrible move for Metal Gear as a brand.

The copy+paste of MGSV's gameplay should be great.

It's both a Kojima Productions and a Platinum Games's game. The later is the one that designed the gameplay, whereas the former had the control over story and cutscenes. It's not a typical Metal Gear, indeed. Snake not being in it isn't a problem, as there are other Metal Gear games were Snake isn't featured. But the problem is that you think spin-offs aren't canon, when in reality some of them are. Here's the Inside Gaming interview with Yuji Korekado (who was the lead programmer at Kojima Productions' Programming Unit) and who had a degree of interaction during the development on Revengeance: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2xo1mz The very first question asked was, "is this game canon?", and his response was the following thing: "Metal Gear Rising isn't Metal Gear Solid, it's a different type of game, but it does take place in the same universe and within the same storyline, so yes, it's connected, it's canon and it takes place after Metal Gear Solid 4; explains what happens to the world after the events that happened with Snake during Metal Gear Solid 4." And I don't get the point of "little things that don't go with the series". Which ones? The universe, technology and everything does fit with the template that MGS4 laid on (much much better than that futuristic post-Cold War that Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain tried to make), there are multiples references and easter eggs to the other games, there's even stealth sections for a hack n' slash game (which some involve the cardboard box!). Really, this shouldn't even be a point of discussion. I don't accept the notion of "proper canon". It is canon in the fully meaning of the word, just like Portable Ops is canon, despite Kojima's incredible efforts to try and erase the later game from existence. |
It's not metal gear solid canon. That's what he said and it's enough for me. It's part of the universe yes.
Regardless my whole point is based on it being a spin off which it is.
Erm...
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

except for Left 4 Dead arguably ignited the zombie crazy and still is the best of the genre. Konami is just lazy and jumping onto an easy bandwagon. blagh
Are Konami and Nintendo having a competition about who can disrespect their franchise more?

Your original point was that Metal Gear Rising belonged to the Ac!d and Survive team because it was non-canon:
| Kerotan said: This goes under the same category as metal gear acid and metal gear rising. It's non cannon. |
When I replied back, you didn't attemp to point out it's spin-off nature, but argue about it being non-canon:
| Kerotan said: It's not Kojima canon though and that's what matters. Platinum and Konami can say what they want but it means diddly squat to the Kojima metal gear fans. For the record I really enjoyed rising. |
It was only on your third comment when you finally changed the perspective and added the spin-off factor, on which you also pointed out the game not being "proper canon", despite the game being confirmed Metal Gear canon, Kojima himself loving it and the game being added to the Metal Gear timeline (which is something Portable Ops never had). You want to consider it spin-off and lump it together with the other spin-offs? Fine by me. But the criteria of such being non-canonical is wrong.
I would be upset but since it's non-canon I can just pretend it doesn't exist.
