Forums - Nintendo - Speculating on speculation: Did NX kill Social Upgrades?

So assuming the recent rumors are true; do you see a way the nx can have something like party chat?  It's hard for me to envision a handheld with a feature like that and if so... does that pretty much kill the social aspect of the system?  We will truly never be able to trash talk our friends while playing smash bros.  or mario kart?  Will we really not be able to coordinate using voice chat in spla2n?  That thought almost seems surreal to me.  That we may be getting a new system from nintendo that, in some capacity, is replacing the wii-u and in, then, 2017 party chat will not be a feature.  I may be way off base here but what do you guys think?

That's most likely the case. You know how Nintendo likes to parent people's children for them. No voice chat = No scary mean people online.

Fixed..

Well Nintendo never really used those functions much but just because the NX may be a handheld doesn't mean it couldn't feature such.

The DS and 3DS all had built in microphones and the 3DS features a video camera. Should Nintendo or another publisher want they could add video or voice chat. Also who knows how the fabled docking device that will link the NX to a TV will work.

Well, Nintendo has never embraced social interactions with online voice chart or party chat or anything like that, so it's not much of anything new for NX.

Hmmmm. Vita has it. No need to try and envision it at all. No squinting, grunting, sweating or furrowing of brows required! Vita!

Well tablets and phones have apps like skype.

After many of your comments i went ahead and looked at the vita's party chat function. Kind of impressed. Now my question may be will nintendo learn from their competitors? Thanks for the share peeps.

The irony is that children are usually the ones being the most vulgar online...
