Azure Atriker Gunvolt Striker Pack comes to 3DS on 30th september :)

I'd buy a physical copy of Yooka Laylee on Wii U in a heartbeat. I mean, I'll buy it digitally if that's the only option, but given the choice I'd rather have it on disc.

Too bad I'm part of the text master race, too impatient to watch videos sorry :)

The last physical indie I've bought was The Talos principle. I was going to buy Life is strange too yet it was dirt cheap on psn, if it is really good I can always add it to my collection later. So far it didn't grab me at the start and I haven't gotten back to it yet.

I would love a physical copy of Transistor with the soundtrack on it playable from the disc. It's odd, they offer the soundtrack on CD and as part of a collectors bundle, yet not with the game on disc.

Most of my physical indies are from limited run. We need a physical of dust on ps4.

This is PC only, but Indiebox does monthly physical releases of indie games for the PC. So far, I've gotten:

Guacamelee
Apotheon
Towerfall
Axiom Verge
Freedom Planet
Armello
Nuclear Throne
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Assault Android Cactus
Galak-Z
Dust
Moon Hunters

So basically this is a console gamer thread?

Anyways. Its just a matter of time. Physical copies of games arent going to be around for ever. It just makes no sense why they would remain.

Look at it this way, if EA sells 20M games across the PS4 and XB1 in a year. They would have need to make at least 25M physical copies of those games. Now if each disc including its packing and distribution to the store costs around $4/disc, that's $100M spent on discs in just the one year.

And some think that's still going to stick around?

It's human nature to want tangible goods. Right now, digital and streaming are new and exciting for people but when the newness wears off, I suspect people will want something else.

Plus, you have to remember the business side of things. Since the beginning of time, companies have used new tech to increase sales when they grow stale. How the hell are you going to improve on Netflix and Apple Music? You can't. So I fully expect these companies to cook up ways in the future to get people to go back to physical or at least find ways to make it healthy again... when/if it becomes unhealthy.

Shenmue III on PS4 is getting a physical release for backers in the $60 tier.
