Suggestion: Save this and read after officialy announced. It will make sense then.

The project is being developed by 3 studios and supervised by GameFreak. Its development started a while before Sun/Moon did. It's a huge project and one of the reasons NX was delayed. There is a trailer being prepared for the NX's reveal (which is really soon) but it wouldn't surprise me if they waited until Pokemon Sun/Moon get released first.

There are difficulty options: New trainer, Adventurer, Veteran Trainer. They adjust the enemy levels,AI and the Pokedollars you get.

The Pokemon models were already ready but there are two sets of textures which are being done from the scratch. New Pokemon forms will have a HUGE role in the game.

The overworld seems to be extremely detailed and a lot of work is done so that battles will feel a lot more immersive.

Customisation is back, you can also unlock items by doing achievements. There are also other achievements similar to what Pokemon GO has.

The idea is to create a character and use it on future installments. You also get an exclusive item by using the Pokemon Bank.

The game takes place in the Kanto area. Expect a complete overhaul of the towns.

The tone of the game goes from happy to mysterious to dark very smoothly and there is a lot focus on the story.

SPOILERS regarding the story (sorry not giving away too much):

As far as story goes, Team Rocket had people working in the Mossdeep Space Center who recovered Meteorite Shards after the Delta Episode incident. They say that at first they thought they contained Deoxys's gene but later found out that it was from another new Pokemon (I'll keep this a secret). They basically use this gene to create super Pokemon called Hyper Forms. Not every Pokemon has a Hyper Form. It reminded me a lot of the GC games but there are physical changes which are permanent and they get a 2nd/3rd type which is new and exclusive to these pokemon. Dark Mewtwo which was introduced in Pokken has the codename project Zeta and a familiar character uses it. Giovanni is also back but he actually helps you this time by telling you the password to Team Rocket's hideout. Later he gives you a special Rhyhorn with the ability Unstoppable Force which makes all of its moves super-effective against Hyper Forms. You also battle against Blue who is inside the Viridian City Gym but he isn't the Gym Leader. He uses the same team as the one in Heart Gold/Soul Silver.

Pokemon black and white if I recal corectly had a very compelling story.

Had me up to the difficulty options. I just can't buy that. It seems too progressive for a series so hardcore locked to the same old same old for the last 20 years. I know B/W 2 had unlockable difficulty but this whole paragraph is just too good to be true.

Edit: It never says this is a rumor on reddit.  It's just a fantasy written by a fan.

It's all peachy now, fine really.

As fake as it might seem, I would like an HD Pokemon game that takes place in Kanto. I mean Colosseum was okay but far from a Pokemon game. Hopefully Gamefreak doesn't sabotage the game's release and pushes for it to be like the handheld games but with a focus on graphic fidelity, story, and customization. And of course the gameplay should be a given.

Why would GF and Nintendo do the incredibly stupid thing of releasing two brand new mainline Pokemon games half a year apart? I could understand if this was a third version being put on the NX and jazzed up to make it the must-have version, but this would be a brand new game that would totally undermine S&M and split the player base.
