I need to know why was it called "Project Cafe".
I remember something about a chip called mocaccino, but i dont know. Please help.

I think it was because of Miiverse. Not sure though.

Most companies seldom explain the reason for a project name. The only two time Nintendo "explained" their project names was for the N64 and Wii side they didn't have a name at the official unveiling. Though most times the project head names it what ever they feel.

I guess it was a name that stuck.

All projects have weird names. Look at Project Scorpio. Maybe they found a nice ring to it and just stuck with it

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

It's just a codename.

Wii U's CPU is called Espresso and it's GPU is called Latte.

The reason they gave I believe has to do with Miiverse. The front page of Miiverse, which I think is officially called Mii Wara Wara, has all the Miis gathering and talking to eachother. This, in their mind, was kind of like people hanging out around a cafe.

Basically, Nintendo was sort of looking for the second screen to be connecting gamers even in single player games. Like videochatting for help, posting about levels, etc. Like hanging out talking in a coffee shop. I think the idea was so that people who weren't necessarily going to go on game forums would have that feeling of being in a games community. Obviously didn't really pan out.

This was the first home console you would take to the cafe with you and game with random hipsters who love old school Nintendo and shit coffee

Thank you all guys.

It was called that because Miyamoto spilled some coffee on himself during the production of the WiiU.
