Thanks the Pokémon GO phenomenal, Pokémon Moon and Sun pre orders are the biggest in the history of the series.

Not only this, but in the month of July (4 July to 24 July 2016) Pokémon games and 3DS hardware increased by respectively 59% and 33%.

 

Increased since 4 July 2016 to 24 July 2016:

01. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire + 71%

02. Pokémon Omega Ruby + 69%

03. Pokémon X + 52%

04. Pokémon Y + 89%

05. Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon + 8%

XX. Those 5 games +60%

XX. 3DS hardware + 33%

Interesting, usually here in Italy nobody preorders Pokémon games early because many people don't live near anyone who plays Pokémon/don't have an internet connection to let them trade online, so many players wait to see what version exclusives each version has to offer. Moreover I've heard many people (myself included) saying that they don't know what version to chose since everyone is into Solgaleo but the announcement of him not beeing a Fire type was a letdown...

I also saw today that the Pokemon Hype is real. At my local retailer in germany, the Pokemon games for 3DS were nearly sold out. Only three copies of Pokemon Y were left, everything else was gone. 2DS also sold out, but plenty of New 3DS and New 3DS XL left.

Sure, it's anecdotal and all, but I still was somewhat impressed.

In all seriousness, Pokemon Go is ridiculous. I knew it was going to be a bigger phenomenon than the original series once I started hearing non-gamers preparing to buy a 3DS JUST for Sun/Moon. If it's not bigger, it's at least more visible - but I think it's honestly bigger this go around. 



You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
