Either Tales of or Atelier, while not the most consistent at times, these are games that have a ton of charm for me and always find time to go back to play them.

Exactly this for me. And not a franchise but South Park the stick of truth is an amazing rpg as well, too bad it's too short

Next is Persona.
It used to be Final Fantasy, Chrono Cross
Now my favorites are Chrono Cross and Xenoblade
If Fire Emblem counts, then it's that one. If it doesn't, then it's pokemon. It's kind of weird for me. I like RPGs, but not really a fan of any RPG franchises. I like some in some of the major ones, but I don't like them as a whole. Fire Emblem and Pokemon are the closest series' where I consistently like titles in them.
