I don't think any other Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft IP has the same gravitas as Pokemon.

Kitler you and I know, Ingris is no where near the level of success as Pokemon is, and yes it would be Nintendo, you leverage the brand, and you can pick the partnership. I blame nintendo for Star Fox as well, even if it was made by Platinum Games. |
it wasn't, very true. but it is still the same game.
harry potter world is very popular for universal studios but that is because harry potter is a very popular franchise not because J.K. Rowling is great at desiging amusement park rides. this is nintendo franchising pokemon to reskin ingris. pokemon is admitedly the perfect reskin to make the game poppular but it is still just that, a reskin of a game released 2 years ealier.
nintendo is has the same claim to making this popular as sony has to making rocket league popular: market awareness not creation/innovation.
I don't think even Nintendo can do it again. Not even with a Mario game. It's a franchise thing more than a company thing.
I highly doubt it, maybe in the future but MS and Sony don't create stuff like what Pokemon is and therefore i doubt they will manage to reach the same level within their entertainment divisions.. Not even Minecraft will have the same effect or can be turned into a feature anything like what Pokemon GO is. Most people who bought Minecraft back in 2012 most likely will never pick it up again but it's still going strong with those who still plays it and newcomer's.

PSN: Opticstrike90
Steam: opticstrike90
The closest is Microsoft with Minecraft but they are still far from Pokemon.
Halo is not so bad too but nothing close and no chances it will reach the "phenomenon" status :)
As for Sony; not even in the horizon with any of their franchise.

It's the only IP that either Sony or MS holds that has any chance of doing something similar to Pokémon. They just need to hit the right notes. |
They said the same thing about Angry Birds, did you go see their movie? Yeah, nobody did.

That is the thing, I do think J.K. deserves all the credit for the success for for Harry Potter, even an amusement park or merchandising (again you leverage your brand with suitable partners).
The difference between Rocket League is Sony helped, but they don't own the franchise, and the title is pretty popular on steam as well.
However, I do not take away credit from Niantic either. They were a good brand partner, and hopefully this company will grow more now, since Google and Nintendo invested in them and natured this new relationship.
