Forums - Nintendo - Pokemon Go rumored to make $1.6m Dollars per day in US alone.

The potential for this conversation to turn sour is high. Let's move away from the 3rd Party Nintendo + Sony talk.

It seems this was missed somehow.

Seriously. Knock it off, guys. Change the subject or drop it.

For reference, XY and ORAS sold 43,000 copies in the most recent VGC week. At $40, they're making $250k a day on those games still. Just for perspective, it doesn't mean anything for or against Pokemon Go, just that Pokemon is nuts in general.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

you should use your moderation power and end this topic for good. Everything's going cray cray now.

I think the conversation can still be salvaged, and there's nothing wrong the OP itself.

In general, I don't like to censor discussion, unless it really seems like there's no saving it. I haven't completely lost hope here yet.

Like i said. Nintendo is to Handheld just as Sony is to console. For you to want one to leave means you should want the other to leave. But your going to just keep ignoring this since your blinded by Sonys greatness. So lets just agree to disagree...

So much wrong with this post.

This has nothing to do with Sony.  stop drawing up a tangent that's completely irrelevant.

Secondly I didn't say I want Nintendo to leave the handheld market.  I'm simply just analysing the current dying handheld market and booming mobile market and saying what they should do.  This isn't personal buddy.

the handheld market isn't really dying though. there is a good chance that the 3DS ends up pretty close to the GBA in terms of sales. The DS was an anamoly, you don't use anamolies as the average of a market or the normal basis of comparison

I repeat it a million times, but if the handheld market is 'dying' and despite that the 3DS is by far the second best selling console on the market (handheld and home all considered) then that means that most likely handheld AND home console gaming would be dying as a whole

I mean the 3DS is a year older than the Xbox One yet easily seems to be outselling it every week. Different markets somewhat, sure, but obviously the 3DS is doing fine when compared to some of the competition (the PS4 being the only thing outperforming it currently)

people also forget that Nintendo does make money from ALL of their system sales. this is not the same for Sony and Microsoft. They don't really want to abandon making money off off hardware. They also make LOADS from accessory sales. memory cards, pro controllers, random expansions, etc.

if the NX is a moderate success and their next handheld does similar numbers to the 3DS, then it would likely be very hard for Nintendo match that from mobile sales, even if they did insanely well with them.

I think Nintendo's best bet is to attack both markets. They always make sure to make money off of their handhelds and home consoles (hence why the Wii U has never been really reduced much at all in price). if you're making money from both sectors then why abandon them? its illogical

This is where they can use the profits they make from this to perhaps to publish some IP's (ie - Bayo 2) and really make a bigger push with the NX.

- Don't forget a new Star Fox game

- Earthbound remake

- Metroid Prime 4 or whatever

- New F-Zero

- New IP's

Of course! Although I just always lie on the hope they're making them anyway :9

Take the money and put cash into all of this!

Pretty sure this is going to surpass every single game they put out on 3DS. Not sure where the argument is there.

The big picture.

Mobile and handheld isn't an either-or scenario. Nintendo will make the most money by doing both.

I'm not saying it's an either/or, but I don't know why people are in damage control over mobile platform showing it's portable dominance. It is known.

Very well written post.  There's a valid argument for both sides.  Personally I think the dedicated handheld market will shrink by a large margin again.  I guess we just have to wait 2/3 years and see.

Well, literally everyone is playing it... Or at least everyone knows about it

Just imagine the kind of money they'll make if they bring over Mario aswell. Investors will put more pressure on them now after this success.

^ Investors probably hopeing Nintendo drops Handheld hardware, and just goes 3rd party for mobile.

They have a big library of games that could be well suited for mobile phones too.

I don't think dropping their handheld business is the issue.  i think not fully embracing mobile is.  What harm will it do making profits on the handheld side?  None.  The problem is they've ignored the mountain of cash they can make as a third party on mobile.  That's what annoys investors.  They should be both first party and proper third party.
