Will Nintendo finally realise their future lies on Android and iOS at least when it comes to their handheld series.

Have you not been paying attention to sales for software on the 3ds? Pls keep comments of third party to yourself

Incredible, Nintendo really should, and will no doubt start aggressively pursuing the mobile market. Nintendo's future could be very bright in that market. It could be a very lucrative change in direction. They have so many brands that would do incredibly well for mobile gaming, they could release smash hit, after smash hit.

Haven't played it yet. How is it monetized?

Wow, Pokemon Go could just be the beginning of the Nintendo like profits if these estimates are close.

That's ios only, don't forget that android has the game as well, should be, to the very least, 2.5 total.

Pretty sure this is going to surpass every single game they put out on 3DS. Not sure where the argument is there.

I'm sorry but I don't see Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing doing this well when they'll hit the mobile market.

Honestly if you check up old 'nintendo investors wants Nintendo to go mobile' you will see comments where people basically call the idea stupid none predicted that Pokemon GO would do so well.  A good start.

Just imagine the kind of money they'll make if they bring over Mario aswell. Investors will put more pressure on them now after this success.

I don't think Mario translates well to mobile devices, not without a gamepad.

But I think some of their IPs could have even greater success on mobile.

I think the issue there is not all of thier games translate well on mobile, yet.

So people go to 3DS for different experiences. But maybe the next Nintendo portable device tries to bridge the gap.

Yup.  I think people get the wrong idea when they hear the words 'Nintendo' and 'mobile'.  I doubt Nintendo is going to do something like port over Smash or Mario Kart over to mobile because, like you said, they just don't translate well to that platform.  I can see Nintendo making mobile-centric spinoffs for those IPs that cater to casual audiences though -- and that's probably what they're going to do.

Ive been saying that for awhile, there is a large middleground between free, pick up and play style mobile games & $60 blockbuster style console games. I think there is alot of potential for Nintendo to capitalize on that in between market that can attract both sides.
