Another PC vs consoles thread. So original.
@topic well its not only that MS releases all exclsuives on PC but its also the fact that even the OS is Windows on Xbox now. For me the most important part for buying a consoles are exclusives and physical games. Although i feel more and more satisfied with the PS4 OS and how everything is easy and streamlined, for doing all these PC stuff like installing it was never as easy and fast to get into the game unlike on PC, so thats also more of a reason that grows on me.
I dont plan to buy either an Xbox One or getting a Windows 10 upgrade for my PC as MS lacks exclusives games which cader towards me. But i probably still would buy an Xbox One if i had to, especially used Xbox ones should be very reliable and cheap ounce the scorpio hits. I am really not fond of using Windows 10 and getting used to another new OS which is probably trash anyways. I want to stick to Win 7 forver or getting Linux at this point, the transition should be very easy as the PS4 covers my essential hobby

No. Do console gamers have to buy a separate laptop/desktop for general use? |
Every buys a separate laptop. How else do you get the portability requirement for a computer?

Nah. My rig when I was in highschool could handle anything. Lol my parents got me a heavy duty PC with surround sound and everything back then. Everything from homework, gaming to even watching movies was done on it. I would assume it's the same or better today for most PC gamers. |
I meant for portability. A laptop is far more useful than a desktop.

Nope. Why? |
There's a massive difference between a laptop and desktop.
if you don't buy a laptop, how do you deal with portability for general use?
| Swordmasterman said: Answer me. It is cheaper to purchase a Nintendo + Playstation + Xbox console than purchasing a PC that is more powerful than those machines ? If consoles don't had exclusives we would not have competition because people would purchase a Gaming PC instead. They would be able to play every game of every plataform for much less than they would pay if they purchased each plataform. |
the usual superficial perspective. no consideration of the economic values for the market. not to speak the value of the exclusive games.
at least with sony and nintendo traditional gaming keeps on thriving on a little longer. i hope as long as possible. would hate to see mobile gaming standards on certain digital distribution plattforms. o wait...
Hunting Season is done...

Okay....
That still doesnt make a difference in what they actually are considering both are Personal computers.....
If you dont buy a laptop - you can get a Surface tablet if you are into that kind of stuff or use your mobile phone as far as general things go by.
Or....you can be a MAN and....... With paper and pencil like the dark times |
Doesn't matter how you label it - doesn't change anything to the fact that they're different things.
MS tablet surfaces are terrible though.

But they are still PCs, which of course you didnt know. |
By that logic, consoles are personal computers too.

Ever heard of Emulation? Guess not.
| S.T.A.G.E. said: So I guess Phil spencer was wrong when he said you will need a 4K tv if you want to use a Scorpio. That's the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard From Phil. If the console is anything like the 360 or the Xbox one its scalable to 4K just like the other consoles were scalable for their time period. No wonder he caused a media circus just talking about it. They are literally saying the Scorpio marketing has cannibalized the S right out of the reveal and it doesn't even come out for a year. We will see how that turns out. Both will be 4K ready. Not only that but Microsoft will need the power for the vr which is one of the primary reasons why they followed Sony on the upgraded console. Sony has to have a console that can handle their vr as well as stop the few console gamers from upgrading to PC. Microsoft has zero reasons to stop them. Two obviously opposite reasons for an upgraded console. They will not allow themselves to be one upped again. Sony has already consulted with third party about scaling the console versions based on the hardware. Some devs were pissed (bioware) and some liked the idea (Bethesda). This means devs will control how far future games are scaled on consoles. |
There *are* other resolutions besides 1080P and 4K.
Scorpio and Neo will rely on upscaling to achieve 4k output though, but right now, other than possibly the upcoming Vega... AMD does not really have any viable single cost-efficient 4k gaming capable chip... And let's face it, Vega will be to big, to expensive for a console anyway.
| Lawlight said: Wrong. Just checked the price of Dark Souls 3 and it's the same on PC and consoles, for example. Also, Uncharted 4 on PC? Yeah, I don't think so. One more thing, don't confuse the number of people who installed Steam with users who actively buy and play games. |
If you only looked on Steam. Then you are doing it wrong. On PC there is always a sale, somewhere.
Anyone who buys a game on PC that isn't discounted is... To be blunt. Silly.
And the PC has more stores that compete with each other.
And please, provide me links of the places you compared the prices with.
Uncharted 4 will come to PC, whether you like it or not, whether Naughty Dog likes it or not and whether Sony likes it or not. It will happen. It's not a matter of "if" it's a matter of "when". And it will look better than what the PS4 could achieve too.

Not really.. video game consoles are designed to play video games as their primary function. I'm not sure where you're coming from when it comes to this magic designation of what is and isn't a PC. A desktop computer is a personal computer just as much as a notebook computer or a tablet computer is a personal computer. Its a computer designed for personal use and all perform the same types of tasks and run the same kind of applications, there's not really any way to split them all up as something different just because of their form factor.
I accepted it when Nintendo dun goofed & SONY started charging for online services. New games released in beta mode became the norm. Bye Bye consoles.
