Forums - Gaming - Some "console fans" just accepted that PC is the superior gaming platform.

Yes, at the end of the day, if each of the big 3 had all their games on PC then their consoles become pointless to the vast majority of gamers. At the end of the day, it really comes down to exclusives. Now if all games were available on all platforms, I'm not so sure. Price-point/value and convenience would win and that could give the edge to the PS4 if you ask me.

I think the point is that PC = X1+ as all X1 games going forward are a subset of PC games but not all PC games are a subset of X1 games. If what you care about are games, then yea, a PC is better. There are still multimedia and convenience reasons to get an X1 (especially the X1s) but a lot of gamers just don't care about that stuff, and that's why people are reacting the way they are.

While I actually agree with you personally (I would totally skip consoles entirely if I could get all the games on PC), I think most console gamers are closed into their mindsets for whatever reason, and they are most comfortable with the console world.

Even if hypothetically : a $99 PC blew the complete doors off of either PS4/Neo and XB1/Scorpio, along with every game available and free online still, most console gamers just don't want a 'PC'. It's just what it is.

Some people are also just oblivious. I showed someone BF4 running at 4K/60 with everything ultra, and they couldn't tell the difference between their PS3, lol. And no, they weren't kidding, they just have vision problems I guess.

I myself don't care if more console people decide to go PC, if they're happy with whatever they choose, wonderful. I'm just happy that PC is a better place to game than ever imho. I still like a Nintendo and/or Sony product to go along with my PC (now techincally partially an Xbox, lol) setup.

You could be accurate. There is no tone of facial expressions after all. Constantly talking about it being on the PC and it being "better" certaintly sounds like being proud/bragging about it.

Specially combined with the earlier comment of "I still have a ton of fun emulating some old games from the SNES/PSX era on my PC"

I actually own SNES, PS1, N64 games on their original formats, so from a legal perspective I'm not breaking any laws, nor are they demanding, allowing me to emulate them via my Android TV box so I can have a higher degree of fidelity and still retain a similar experience to the original.

With that said. I'm indifferent to it all. I don't really care if Emulation happens or not. Just that it's going to happen regardless of what any of us think.

DonFerrari said:

Legally, from what I know... emulating is piracy because it's reverse engineering the system to be duplicated and violating IP on the HW itself and them if you didn't buy the SW itself you are pirating again, but I may be wrong.

But I find funny when some guys expend 2000 USD or more on a rig and then pirate a game because they think it's too expensive (at least dirty cheap steam promotion isn't piracy, but I also find it an issue to only buy the games for peanuts and let the developers starve)

The legality of emulation will vary from territory to territory. But emulation itself is actually legal in most western countries.
It's when you start dumping BIOS's, downloading ROM's etc' that you enter into a grey area.

Swordmasterman said:

You mean via Emulation ? This isn't guaranteed since sometimes the emulator run the game worse than the original version.

That is actually a very good point.

With that said, issues like that usually get sorted out in time and as hardware continues to progress.

I'm aware that it's accepted in some places and not others, but morally I have no issue with someone having the HW and SW but prefering the emulation, although I preffer the fell of playing on intended HW.

You could say they have problem or they just don't care. A lot of people buy very bad tv set only looking at size and price and don't care about the shit quality of the image, even more because they only watch very bad programs on it kkk

Kinda like what I am saying as well. Those who are like "lol Xbox has no real exclusives anymore nobody needs an Xbox anymore" are often those who praise another console for the exclusives but when they think it's better to play the Xbox games on PC instead of buying an Xbox One, then they should also think that it is bad that they still have to own as example a PS4 instead of getting these games on PC.

If you prefer PC gaming you should hope to get all games on PC and if you want to play on consoles then it's totally needless to talk about the games being on PC.

There is no logic in "I prefer to play Xbox games on PC instead of XBO, how great that I don't get my PS4 games on PC"

It's not neccessarily that you'd prefer playing them on PC, I prefer Console Gaming. I already have a PS4 for third party games and Sony Exclusives. I can't justify purchasing an Xbox though when I have a PC that can play all it's games, even when I'd prefer to play them on a console.

I prefer gaming on a console but I'm willing to put up with playing a few games on PC so I don't have to shell out $300. Though your point stands for those who are console gamers that don't own a Gaming PC already.

For some it is a reason to blast the Xbox, because they enjoy doing it. There are people though who genuinely would have considered getting an Xbox before that no longer will.

Well, this is good news for you then. That is my point, there is no real loss for anyone. (ok those who bought an XBO maybe half a year ago and don't need it anymore may be not so happy)

You prefer to play on consoles but when you get the option to play the games also on PC then the money saving is more important for you as the preference to play on console. This would be also the case with exclusives from other consoles then so that it wouldn't make much sense for you to say "great that Nintendo/Sony don't release their games on PC even though money saving is important for me so that I wouldn't have to buy their hardware for it".

If you would still play it on console then you can still buy the console, if you would play it on PC instead you could save money for hardware you wouldn't need anymore. Doesn't sound too bad to me.

I would love Nintendo to go third party, and I'd be fine with Sony games on PC as long as it caused no negative effects on it's home console business.

Well, I guess sales would maybe decline but not too much. I doubt as example Sony would sell only 40 million instead of 100m+ PS4s. Maybe 10m less or so but not more.

Sure, Sony wouldn't invest so much in the graphics of games like Uncharted if their console sales would be irrelevant because they want to sell consoles with these investmentes but yeah, I don't think PC gaming is such a huge threat to console gaming that Sony wouldn't still sell enough consoles.

Sony doesn't do it because they have not really much from it but if they would do it then their console business would be still fine i suppose. And with that  console only gamers could still enjoy their PS4 as much as before.

Thing is, a PC/laptop is a necessity. An x1 isn't. So if putting an extra 300 quid or so into your next laptop/pc means having all the Xbox exclusives then there is no need for an xbox. I took this stance after buying a 360 in 09' and realized that if I wait a few months I can play most X360 games on my Laptop, so when I needed to buy my next laptop in 2011 I put an extra 300 or so into buying a gaming laptop which at the time was well able to play most new games on med-high and is still capable of playing some new games on Low.
I will have to upgrade sooner or later in the next year or two and putting in the price of a console to gain some extra power for gaming is a much better solution than going with Xbox, plus I get the whole steam library.
Xbox one and the xbox brand is now completely redundant with this move. Its basically a steam box without actually having access to steam. Useless.

Another situation where I personally totally agree. I couldn't possibly get my work done with at least a laptop, and preferably a desktop (it saves me some bigtime driving when I'm able to remote-support a client rollout or issue for example), the youngest generation is often skipping PCs and may have never even used one. People try to get everything done on their phones, and sometimes at best, a tablet. For simple email and web browsing, this is somewhat feasible, even if I still find it clunky and never as fast as full-fledged hardware.

I know others who use Cell-phone LTE shared internet for their consoles instead of getting a real ISP. It boggles my mind, because they end up paying $250+ phone bills, but that's how they roll. The world is a strange place my friend.
