Thing is, a PC/laptop is a necessity. An x1 isn't. So if putting an extra 300 quid or so into your next laptop/pc means having all the Xbox exclusives then there is no need for an xbox. I took this stance after buying a 360 in 09' and realized that if I wait a few months I can play most X360 games on my Laptop, so when I needed to buy my next laptop in 2011 I put an extra 300 or so into buying a gaming laptop which at the time was well able to play most new games on med-high and is still capable of playing some new games on Low.
I will have to upgrade sooner or later in the next year or two and putting in the price of a console to gain some extra power for gaming is a much better solution than going with Xbox, plus I get the whole steam library.
Xbox one and the xbox brand is now completely redundant with this move. Its basically a steam box without actually having access to steam. Useless.

Another situation where I personally totally agree. I couldn't possibly get my work done with at least a laptop, and preferably a desktop (it saves me some bigtime driving when I'm able to remote-support a client rollout or issue for example), the youngest generation is often skipping PCs and may have never even used one. People try to get everything done on their phones, and sometimes at best, a tablet. For simple email and web browsing, this is somewhat feasible, even if I still find it clunky and never as fast as full-fledged hardware.

I know others who use Cell-phone LTE shared internet for their consoles instead of getting a real ISP. It boggles my mind, because they end up paying $250+ phone bills, but that's how they roll. The world is a strange place my friend.
