Forums - Microsoft - LIVE On PC Is Free.

That's one of the reasons a PC+Nintendo approach works for me. I hate paying for online no matter if I get free games

The practice of putting a paywall on both PSN and XBL is horrible so I'm glad MP is free on PC.

Its too bad console only gamers accepted it as a norm and well here we are. It was pretty obvious that Sony followed MS's footsteps to implement a paywall - they have a new source of revenue coming in now - I wouldnt be surprised if Nintendo follows for their next gen system.

It blows my mind at times when it's accepted, but those who gladly accept it now want to ask the uestion which is naturally born from "why am I paying for something and those toehrs guys aren't?", but really it's usually thought as "why am I paying for something and those guys aren't?, they should be paying for it too". Really history has told us that PC players didn't accept it from the start, they sure as hell won't accept it now and honestly no one should be able to tell them otherwise.

i just wondered how people feel about the fact ps3 owners can play all playstation games online for free, while ps4 owners pay to maintain the servers

I'm not saying there's really anything intrinsically wrong with it because clearly people have a choice but it strikes me as odd that this isn't getting discussed.

Who says you are paying for the servers if you get free games for the subscription?

Because they assume they will get more money from people buying PC games that aren't willing to pay for online than from people buying PC games and willing to pay for online.

Your mistake is that you think that all the money from XBL Gold is going straight into the servers. Completely ignoring the fact that Microsoft will get an additional source of revenue from selling PC games, which can then be put right back into improving the online service on both PC and Xbox.

So yes, even if PC only gamers don't pay for Gold, they are still contributing to improve the Xbox Live service.

Seems unfair.

PC users should either pay to access windows store and play those xbox games, or xbox shouldnt cost anything to play online either.

It didn't fly on PC the first time but went down soundly on their console at the time it was first thrown out. I honestly don't think it's fair to force the group that rejected it the frist time to adhere to the group that accepted it the first time. If you don't want to pay for live or online then tell the company, do what PC users have done for years and don't just demand the other group who spent years fighting for what they wanted to be stuck with something you dislike, that is your own issue to sort out.

Also paying to access a store alone sounds completely asenine. Just imagine for a moment of me having to pay just to access GAME UK's store both physically and online based, that sounds completely insane from a consumer pov. Just imagine having to pay up each time just to view the Steam store. I didn't think consumers could dream of such anti-consumer nightmares.

Just putting it out there that there are retail chains that require you to have a paid membership before you can use them.

I'm cool with it, I get 3-4 games for free each month, so of course there should be a price tag attached. I do think MS should make MP free for everyone and make free games and discounts the selling point for XBLG.
