Blizzard hands down. Not only is there openworld game bigger than GTA they can branch out and make any type of genre and exceed them where as Rockstar fall under the status *one trick pony*

Props for adding Komani in the voting system. That made me laugh.

Yeah, Westwood was the one that basically created the genre with Dune and Command and Conquer, but it wasnt until Warcraft that things really got popular.But ill give you this one, since Westwood importance over Blizzard on this one cant really be ignored.But in my opinion you are wrong about WOW.It dosent really matter if the genre has already been created before by another game.I mean, most revolutionary games we have nowadays have inspiration on games that came before it.The point is that WOW did things so right, abe with new or existing ideas, that should be credited as such.It basically laid the foundation for the other games in the genre, and when one game does that, I think its worth the title "revolutionary".Thats at least how I see it.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree then.

Rockstar are responsible for two of my favourite games of all time:

Red Dead Redemption (by far the best game they ever created) and GTA IV.

But Blizzard are much more diversified and more iconic.

And they're responsible for many of my best childhood gaming memories with Warcraft 1 and 2, Diablo, and to a lesser extent, Starcraf. Sadly though, they concentrated for way too many years on World of Warcraft that they gave the impression that they were sitting on their laurels. Only recently did they started taking some risks again, but for some reason, the spark just doesn't seem to be there anymore, at least as far as I'm concerned. Overwatch doesn't do anything for me, and they refuse to do a Warcraft 4. :(

I'd say they're both really good developers. But Rockstar doesn't really step outside of its comfort zone (making mostly games that uses the GTA template) while Blizzard is much more diversified. So even though I prefer Red Dead Redemption to any other games both have created, I'll give this one to Blizzard.


@Basil: Rockstar isn't Take2. So your argument doesn't make sense. It's like you'd answer Sony, when the question would be "who's better, Naughty Dog or Epic Games?". -__-

Jokes aside, Blizzard or Rockstar still have to climb quite a mountain to match Konami amount of great IPs/games.
Konami and Capcom may have not make that much fuss nowdays and have gotten into some bad stuff here and there and deserve the backslash when it's due (Konami very recently, #fuckonami), but they are still legends of game development, on a level above both Blizzard and Rockstar, the amount of the top quality stuff they used to release is still to be reached by those two.

As much as i would like to agree that Komani has released amazing games in the past, i are no where near on the same level as Blizzard. Blizzard are just so much more successful and also offer some of the best quality games on the market, Komani not so much these days. Blizzard as a whole has been and still are making great games with such high standards. As for Rockstar, they only make one type of game and that isnt enough for me to give them credit for being one of the best. They are the best at Open World games but thats it. Blizzard offer not only many of the best games of there genres, you will be playing them for years on end.

Also Blizzard has Diablo which is very succesfull and Starcraft which is the south korean popular sport.

For me it's Blizzard. Don't know how many hours/days/weeks/months/years i played WoW, SC, WC, Diablo...
WC3 also introduced RPG/RTS which was great. And the balancing of all the games!
Don't forget about e-sports (Starcraft)
Don't forget Blizzard's Map Editor.... --> Dota
So much more influence of Gaming from Blizzard than Rockstar.
I do like GTA, but it's just one genre.

I don't really care about Rockstar games, GTA never appealed to me. Blizzard on the other end has made several of my favorite games ever (StarCraft I & II, Diablo series, Warcraft (RTS games) and now Overwatch), they win quite easily.
