See my edit.

I totally understand that memory is important but the point I'm making is that it's visible specs don't always tell the whole story when it comes to the idea of "more powerful" just like 6th gen where each consoles were better in their own "specific use cases" ...

It's very hard to compare platform power in the total use cases when most consoles have very different microarchitectures ...

Yeah, I agree in that regard, that with different platforms with different strengths and weaknesses, a direct comparison is difficult. Personally I'd still give the edge to Wii U, but not in all areas, same as I'd give the Gamecube the edge over PS2 but not in all aspects, or the Xbox the edge over Gamecube but not in all areas.

Yeah, but sacrifices had to be made to make the game as big as they did, hence why some games have anti aliasing (LoZ Breath of the Wild for example) and some don't. It's pretty much my point. There is really no game we can go to and say "this is what Metroid on the Wii U would look like" and again, it is a sad thing.

The real fact of the matter is their is ALWAYS going to be hardware limitations. Even if the Wii U was as powerful as the PS4, there are going to be limitations, and it's nice to see how franchises take advantage of the hardware that is available vs what the franchise looks like in its next generation. The small niggling issues in Xenoblade Chronicles did not hamper my enjoyment of the game in the least. In fact I would go as far as to say I thoroughly enjoyed it dispite its shortcomings and am glad I got to play it now (and again prefer it) instead of having to wait until whenever it came out when the NX does arrive. That in turn increases my interest for the next installment when it does come out on NX, to see how that one stacks up.

Ultimately, what limitations would Metroid have on Wii U? Other than it would be 720p we'll never know for sure. How good would it have looked? We also will never know. Same as asking what limitations will it have on the NX (if it ever comes out)? We don't know. So you're asking for a solution for a problem you have no clue the game has (and other franchises like Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, whatever IP we will never have the luxury of seeing on Wii U).

The best anology for how Metroid could have looked on Wii U is probaby Halo 4, albiet with better textures thanks to Wii U's increased RAM capacity.

Damn  shame we never got such a game. :(

Don't worry, you will get even better game on NX. ;)

We all certainly hope so.  And I sincerely hope they don't pull a Kirby and put the game best suited to handheld on console (someone please explain why Deluxe and Robobot are on 3DS and Rainbow Curse is on Wii U as opposed to vice versa?)  I would be pretty livid if a mainline full Prime game was released for 3DS or its successor and a 2D Metroid was released for the NX.

Despite all, I am pretty sure they already started Metroid Prime project on Wii U, but because failed, hi costs and long development time they moved project to NX.

Honestly, I'm not even sure I want Nintendo to make another Metroid. A significant part of me would rather they just let the franchise die for good than continue to tarnish it once hallowed name with garbage like Other M and Federation Force.

And no game on Wii U..... How is that a win for us Nintendo fans again?.... Oh wait, it isn't.

One not good game (Other M), does not mean series need to die or that next one will be same. Federation Force doesnt have anything with Metroid Prime, it a just spin off for 3DS, it same like you would say Animal Crossing need to die because Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festivals.

Its win for Nintendo fans to get sucha a game at all, at this point its not important if had such a game on Wii U or we will get it on NX.

So the franchise stumbled ONCE in the mainline entries and now probably once in a spinoff and thus should die?  I strongly, strongly, strongly disagree with that idea.  If every franchise was killed off after stumbling, most franchises we love today wouldn't be around. And Nintendo certainly doesn't lack the development chops to make an extraordinary Metroid.  This isn't a Sega or Atari situation where there's a serious possibility the companies literally lack the ability to make good games.

It's one thing for a game to suck, but for both Other M and Federation Force to run so completely contrary to what made the franchise great suggests that Nintendo simply no longer knows what to do with it. It's been so long since Nintendo created anything in vein of classic Metroid that I simply no longer see any evidence that they even know how any more.
