Male or Female?

Male 99 40.08%

Female 64 25.91%

Both 82 33.20%

Other 2 0.81%

Total:247

female when given a choice.

i view the on screen character more as a companion than as an extension of myself. i prefer hanging out with girls.

it's no big to me to play as a male but regardless,.. i tend to hate games when i hate the character i'm playing. bayonetta was ruined to me because of the character. scalebound looks terrible to me for the same reason.

I can play either.

Sort of depends on the game I guess... I was going to just go ahead and say female because of rpgs like WoW or Fallout where I'll be spending possibly years running about leveling up and enjoying the game world as 1 character.

However there is a genre where I wouldn't tend to create a female character, sports games, say in Tony Hawks pro skater I would always have a male create a skater just because sadly a female doing a 900 just simply doesn't look right... because I don't believe there has ever been a fantastic vert female pro skater, sure there is a number of street style skaters, but I could be wrong now.

Again in WWE titles, if you create a female wrestler in the newer titles you are not able to wrestle cross gender, so you'll just never have the option of fighting Brock or Cena if you create a female character so you are naturally pushed into creating a male char. Just in the newer titles this is in place I think.

Female, mainly RPGs

Female if the female character is hot so I have something nice to look at while playing. Otherwise male.

I LOVE ICELAND!

It really depends on the role of the carachter. If the carachter model and/or the job he/she does fits with the gender(according to me), ill pick the gender accordingly. So short answer:both.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I play as a male because it's more immersive for me. The current trend of shoehorning women into roles designed for men (Star Wars, female spartans in Halo etc.) for the sake of PC correctness has totally ruined the believability for me because as far fetched as those stories are... IF... they were real, it certainly wouldn't be 20 year old, 110 pound females doing it. Men are genetically superior when it comes to strength. It's a scientific fact. We are the ones who fight wars on the front lines for that reason alone. So, when there's a male/female option, I'm picking male all the way.

Plus, I am a man and I want to play as something that represents me.

I used to like playing as females, so I get free shit online. But that has run it's course. The new thing now is playing as a guy and hitting on other guys, just for the reaction.
