Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo of America: "Grab a Wii U while you can"

I said this a while ago, but Wii U will become the greatest collectors item in Nintendo history. There's already 3rd party games that are selling above other consoles prices. Make sure you buy NBA2k, Madden, and Fifa on Wii U. Those ones will be hard to find later on.

"we will be transitioning production to NX"

Complete 180 degree turn, but we all saw it coming

Yeah.  BotW seems to have been the unofficial start of the NX push.

It's only a 180 if you misinterpret the initial statement. The correct interpretation is that NX isn't a replacement for either the 3DS or Wii U, it's a replacement for both. And since it isn't a mere continuation of either the 3DS or Wii U, it's certainly not a simple replacement. It's a significant change.

read the article:

"This suggests that when the NX is released, it will be supported alongside Nintendo's existing platforms."

Your claim is a huge stretch. Saying that the NX is not a replacement for others is not a good work around for saying that it is a replacement for both. And at this point, the NX is a simple replacement for the Wii u. It is effectively killing off the wii u whereas Nintendo originally wanted it to be like the ps4 neo or xbox one scorpio

Gladly sold my Wii U after being disappointed so many times. Will buy Zelda on NX after a few years when its cheaper. Not gonna fall for their third party lies again.

Good luck surviving Nintendo

You posted the interpretation of the Gamespot author. That doesn't help your argument. You would need a quote from a high up Nintendo representative to have a point. You are saying that Nintendo originally wanted it to be like PS4 Neo, but there isn't any statement from Nintendo that supports that notion.

Well, with that being said, nothing is stopping my (or the author's) interpretation from holding more wieght over yours. I still hold on to my claim because they really wanted to hammer down the point that the wii u would not be replaced

There's still software emulation you guys. If people can already run a game or two from WiiU on PC, then I'd imagine Nintendo is able to emulate their own games on the upcoming hardware, pending architectural design choices.

You don t need anything as Nintendo and Iwata said as much-  they would keep supporting the wiiu... NX not a replacement,.... blah blah blah-

Like i said before< Nintendo means: " Leave luck to heaven but the lying to us"  Pretty sure that is Their corporate motto-

and you are the oly person to beleive what you are saying-  some fanboys might say they do out of misguided loyalty but they woudl not beleve it if they are over the age of 10

No BC then?

if the last 4 years shows anything is that there is no rush to get an WiiU, so I don't think it would start now.

Depends on how powerful the NX is. I think it is possible if the NX has a decent CPU (at least an i5 equivalent), but modern consoles (PS4/XBO) don't have decent CPU's.  Nintendo has the advantage of known the Wii U's hardware architecture rigorously to make the emulator efficient, but they don't have the motivation.
