Forums - Gaming - Xbox Scorpio wont do 4K 60fps, even 30 at ULTRA only at LOW settings.

So the console that isn't out yet, that hasn't been shown is more powerful than the console that isn't out yet, that hasn't been shown, and that no one has tried.

Gotcha.  You may want to ask your self why you would care if one is more powerful than another, and why it bothers you if people question that possiblity. You may be surprised what you find out and come out a better person.

Or at least one not so angry at little details.

Oh I'm not angry in the least. I'm a Wii U gamer. Resolution means squat to me. I just think that its funny that people are trying to downplay a genuine achievement in gaming history because it doesn't agree with their corporate philosophy.

You may wanna ask yourself why this matters so much to you. Some self reflection might do some good.

Cognitive dissonance leads people to do the opposite at times. They lash out on the world.

Consoles don't do Ultra settings.

A 980Ti can do Doom 4K 60 FPS and MANY other titles including Forza Apex in High/Ultra mix settings.

No reason to believe the upcoming Forza and Halo cant run in 4K, developed in an optimized environment with no driver overhead as dealt with on PC.

That said, not all games obviously can run 60 fps at 4k and they will have to baseline at 30. There is also less of a need for expensive AA at 4K which frees up performance.

In any event, 6TFlops is nothing to sneeze at and lots can be achieved with that amount of compute in an optimized environment.

Also the rumors are from E3 that AMD has said it has MORE than 6TFLOPS and the CPU is all new. Could be Zen cores, could have overclocking headroom. Combine that  with 12GB of GDDR5 and likely a 384bit bus delivering 320Gb/s in system bandwith...it sounds impressive for a console product.

You wont see Alienware selling an Alpha like that.

PC I i7 3770K @4.5Ghz I 16GB 2400Mhz I GTX 980Ti FTW

Consoles I PS4 Pro I Xbox One S 2TB I Wii U I Xbox 360 S

4k at 30 is achieve able with the specs they announced. And remember it will be like the Neo where it will be up scaling the old X1 games. So 4k 60frames is very possible especially for games that already run at 1080p and 60 frames on X1.

That is not proof of anything.

I actually just watched a video from Digital Foundry about the Scorpio and they said the power of the Xbox Scorpio is likely going to be comparable to a 980 or 970. Not sure if those cards come even close enough to run 4k games. Like I said, I expect this to be smaller games like Castle Crashers and stuff of the like. AAA games (or even AA) won't do 4k imo. But the console is 17-18 months out so who knows.

I think I will listen to phil spencer who said 4K, 60fps, high fidelity VS the OP 1440, 60fps.

Will these new consoles be like if you just want a better performance you can change resolution ? That would be cool cause i dont have or will have a 4k tv but it would be awsome if we able to choose performance boost over res.

Spencer has said if you only have a 1080p then the extra power from Scorpio will be useless to you. So that suggest ALL of the extra power in Scorpio will be dedicated to 4K output, and there will be no power available for better graphics.

Unless he's lying in order to promote Slim sales this holidays, it seems like MS has made an unfathomable decision in pushing out a 6TF machine where games won't look or play any better than on their original 1.32TF machine, aside from the 4K thing.

I'd be satisfied if most AAA games ran at 1440p and 60fps on Scorpio personally.

Nobody knows anything about Scorpio or Neo so we should just wait for the specs. Personally I don't think it will do 4K gaming and there will be a catch.

Plus benchmarks are done on high performance intel cpus who are overclocked, not apus
