This has me somewhat worried; the family market has moved on to mobiles and iPads. There's no reason why they should be coming back to Nintendo! Why would Nintendo think so? The casual family market has been getting used to free to super cheap games, why pay $60 for one now?! I was really hoping that the NX would be a hybrid and cut down the development time for games

Do you even know what you are arguing anymore? This is how it went down.

1. Some asked for a conventional console.

2. You chimed in and said they offered that with GC and had the second worst sales with it.

3. Someone said it wasn't traditional.

4. You said it was.

5. I described exactly where Nintendo went wrong with the Gc and it wasn't with releasing a normal console.

6. You started not making sense.

I really wonder if that Nikkei report even if Nintendo denied it is actually mostly true about Android. 

Nintendo has denied things about Nikkei before and they have after wards come out to be pretty much true, (Nikkei said 3DS XL, Nintendo said no, Nikkei said Nintendo making smartphone games, Nintendo said no). Nikkei even reported about a Seaman game being funded by Nintendo, which seemed to be false, but last year at Mr. Iwata's funeral the creator of the game let out that they were indeed making Seaman for 3DS. 

My guess is Nikkei is correct again about Nintendo using Android, but it will just be a Nintendo custom OS, which can run Android apps. Amazon does this already for their Fire tablets. 

They'll have a free-form LCD controller which can run Android apps/games by itself (maybe DS/3DS/VC games too), meaning it has its own chipset (mobile chips akin to a phone 1-2 generations ago are dirt cheap), and then one more gimmick controller. Fairly modest console, 1TFLOP maybe that allows for some ports. 

That's my guess. The hope is to get app-addicted families/kids to get their app fix but get some Nintendo games into the mix too. $299.99. 

Number 5 you were shot down hard and number 6 is you having a hissy fit, fact is GC is a traditional console you can never argue this and can't even dispute this. Your replies after is you having a tantrum.

Nintendo made a lot of mistakes with the GameCube.

If they had launched it a year earlier with less of a kid design and games like Perfect Dark and Zelda: Majora's Mask as re-purposed launch titles .... they probably would've had a fairly comfortable no.2 finish of 35-50 million consoles IMO.

They gave Sony way too much time to build a massive lead and took Microsoft too lightly and also I think Miyamoto's crew over NCL rebelled against NOA who at the time was carrying Nintendo in some respects with things like GoldenEye/Perfect Dark, Nintendo Sports, Star Wars cross-marketing, etc.

I think they wanted to reassert themselves and purposely made the GameCube look overly kid-like but in doing so sabotaged the machine's success for their own egos.
