Just give me a decent spec and normal controller. And cheap price. Will get NX for select exclusives.

lol at normal controller. the gamepad is a normal controller.

That doesn't sound too good. Seems like they want to target the casuals which I guess is their only option at this point.

Sounds like another stupid hater, especially when talking about "casuals", as if that was a thing.

Would you have bought wii u if it hadn't the tablet controller, which also adds 80-100 dollars to the price?

It takes serious mental problems to think the gamepad adds anything close to 80 dollars to the price. It probably added $50-55 at launch and that's it.

Ban incoming in 3... 2... 1... Either way, it added a significant amount.

Depends on how you want to define 'normal'. I'm sure you could understand he meant without getting stuck in semantics.

Ban inc... Oh wait, I already said that. Anyway, the distinction is real, like it or not. Whether or not the term is good is another thing, but there are different levels of gamer dedication, and that's it.

OK, I got baited. I'm sorry. :(

This only upsets me by comparing it to Wii in any way. Well if Zelda: Breath of the Wild is playable on the console it can't be that bad.

Whats wrong with the wii? It is one of the most fun consoles of all time.

Nothing was wrong with the Wii, but Nintendo at all costs needs to distance themselves from the Wii brand.

It's possible the Wii market is a kind of skip a generation market. You're not going to get family casuals buying consoles every generation. But if you wave something shiny in front of them every other generation they might get drawn back in.

I'm not so optimistic as Ubisoft, but if Nintendo did some market research and found that a lot of people who only bought Wii would be likely to buy another similar, but more advanced, console in the next 2-4 years then they might be onto something. The question is, if the family casual audience has a very extended generation time, what will Nintendo do for the 3-5 years where no one wants to buy their hardware? It's a risky model to have a 4 year in 10 sales model.

It'll be interesting to watch what happens.

I agree, the Wii brand must end. But me as a gamer need and expect a fun console like the Wii.

If that's going to be the case, I'd just throw in the Wii brand with Nintendo's QoL business and let Miyamoto and his wacky ideas for input devices take control of it.

I've fought against the idea, but I think I've kinda let the "Nintendo is competing with Sony/MS" dream die.

There's just no space for them to operate in that arena, not with Scorpio/Neo causing market oversaturation as is, and brand wise Nintendo just can't compete for buyers of games like Grand Theft Auto or "Calladooty" or Madden NFL. Those audiences will stick with a Playstation or XBox or PC no matter what.

Their brand is too closely associated with family friendly kid-centric entertainment. The occasional Bayonetta is not going to ever change that, and Nintendo is never going to become (nor would it be a good thing) a company that makes tons of violent action games.

As long as the NX console (assuming it is a somewhat "normal" console) is a solid upgrade on the Wii U hardware wise, so I'm actually getting something for my $250-$350 that Nintendo charges for it, I've made my peace with being OK with that.

Games like Zelda: BoTW and Mario Kart 8 look very nice really anyway, it's not like I play PS4 games and go back to the Wii U and go "OMG! It's hideous!", PS4 games look better, but Wii U games still look nice, unlike the original Wii which looked like hot garbage on a HDTV.

Gimme 1 TFLOP, Nintendo, that's all I ask and that's a pretty damn low bar. I'll be happy with that, Mario Kart and Zelda and Mario and Splatoon will look phenomenal on such a system, and make whatever wacky dildo-shape-shifting controller you want. I don't even care any more. Just give me the option of a classic controller and we're good.

Ubisoft appreciates their Just Dance sales that they want back ASAP.
