Overwatch is a multiplayer only title.

Ok, so just conjecture? The only evidence we have that Overwatch would have performed better than average with digital is that Overwatch was ahead of DOOM onUS PSN last month.

Sounds like people are disappointed with Overwatch console sales and are going the digital damage control route.

Doesn't the fact that Overwatch was ahead on PSN alone show that Overwatch had a substantially higher digital ratio?

Where'd you get those UC3 numbers from? Thought it did 700k first month?

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=137560

Withouth bundle.

Aqua posted a year ago a comment where she said that including bundle Uncharted 3 did 838,000 unit first month, if i remember correctly... Am i right Aqua?

Oh I see. I kinda thought it was including bundles, but I wasn't aware that we'd gotten numbers for UC3 including bundles, so I was confused.

The best selling Uncharted game did in 20 days almost the same the worst selling Halo game did in a week, considering also the 2x instal base. Halo 5 it's considered a flop, Uncharted 4 a success. Now hate on me I don't care, but watching the same people who say the halo franchise died, saying that Uncharted 4 is a great success (I think both are) is ridiculous.

So PS4 almost 2:1 X1 and also PS4 is almost over everything else combined, strong numbers relative to others, but 207k with UC4 isn't that impressive for me (just 25+ YOY growth isn't that high)

Agreed. It's not the sales of the Uncharted 4 game that disappoints me. Over 1 mill including bundles and digital in US only is above my expectations.

But I expected a bigger hardware boost as well compared to eg. Destiny boost (~550,000 in September, 2014).

I guess many Uncharted fans had already bought a PS4. Additionally, I still think all the talk about PS4.5/PS4K/PS4 Neo dampens PS4 sales a bit. Many of my friends that don't follow gaming closely know about the upgrade and are recommending everyone to postpone buying a PS4.

Thanks for numbers.

Disappointing Uncharted 4 sales, thought it would at least be in the upper 900k range.

Regarding point 5, is that only due to the game having a large PC share (and PC is obviously almost entirely digitally), or is that regarding console digital sales as well? How did you come to that conclusion if NPD doesn't track digital, and (afaik) the only digital numbers we have for consoles are the US PSN charts?

Only if we can have digital sales tracking. I'm beginning to feel digital sales are now a lot more than what we all expect, especially with things like preloading in effect. All 6 of my friends and I got the game digitally (we actually get all our games digitally cause we are based in the carribeans).

Just think of it, it sold 2.7M first week, did 800k for the month in NA, even if it does 1.2M eveeywhere else thats still around 500k-700k digital sales. Thats aroumd 30%!!!!

Lol. Globally in the US?

It's more like 1.15x the installbase. And obviously there are different standards for what is a flop and what is not for different franchises. GTA VI would be a flop if it sold 20 million worldwide, because it would be down massively over GTAV, but Dark Souls 4 would be a smashing out of this world success if it sold the same, because it would be gangbusters compared to DS3.  Similarly, Halo 5 selling much much less than its predecessors means that it's considered a dissapointment, not because the numbers are "low", but because it's down so much over the last games and are no where near what the series used to sell. While Uncharted 4, which I honestly think underperformed a bit, is up notably compared to previous games.

So Uncharted 4 had the largest ad campaign in PlayStation history, and yet performed under TLoU and Halo 5 and just barely performed above UC3 including bundles.

Interesting...

Yeah, selling to an install base of 40M vs 80M can do that........ but we can pretend that wasnt the case.

I'm more interested to see how it will do lifetime. If it will hit 10M.

Halo is also more heavily USA-skewed, whereas Uncharted tends to be a more International franchise.

Halo should be stronger for the USA given that it's the primary sales territory----that's why people were hating on it. Uncharted is highly diversified.

Think about it this way for Overwatch:

Overwatch sold 50-100K PC retail sales. That's HUGE for PC retail nowadays.

Since PC retail is such a small fraction of the overall PC market (less than 10%), you can project that for a title to achieve a whopping 50-100K at PC retail, it must have HUGE digital sales (at least >700K on PC digital in the USA).

30% sounds about right for Uncharted 4 digital share. So when you include digital Uncharted 4 is approx. 1.17 million for May USA sales.

Remember, digital keeps slowly creeping upwards. In 2014 digital downloads were 15-20% of total sales. In 2015 it was 20-25%. Now in 2016 it's 25-30%.
